Full Job Description
We're looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the Money Movement team. You'll assist a senior team member on the loss reserves process - a data-heavy body of work that requires knowing the data but also identifying and communicating the insights it reveals - while also owning core day-to-day responsibilities: monthly GL close, bank and cash reconciliations, and ad hoc project work as we build out new payment rails and offerings. You'll need to be proficient in basic systems work (reading SQL, using AI tools) to be effective and efficient in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Assist a senior accountant in supporting the monthly loss reserves process for Payments - pulling and validating underlying transaction and chargeback data, and helping identify and summarize trends and insights
  • Perform monthly GL close activities for the Money Movement / Fintech close, including journal entries and account reconciliations in line with GAAP and company policy
  • Perform bank and cash reconciliations across Payments, Bill Pay, Payroll, and Banking offerings, collaborating cross-functionally to triage and resolve variances
  • Support ad hoc projects that build and scale the Money Movement engine, including new payment rails, partnering with Product Development to translate contract and technical requirements into accounting treatment
  • Read and interpret SQL queries to pull, validate, and troubleshoot data independently, rather than relying solely on others to produce it
  • Use AI tools to accelerate reconciliations, variance analysis, documentation, and other manual "run the business" tasks
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to support journal entries, reconciliations, and reserve balances for internal and external audit
  • Identify and help implement process simplification and automation opportunities that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy
  • Participate in cross-training and provide coverage across other Controllership areas during peak periods
  • Adhere to close-calendar SLAs and maintain the internal control environment for areas of responsibility

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to GL close and bank/cash reconciliations
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong process orientation and follow-through
  • Proficient in basic systems work: comfortable reading SQL to query and validate data, and using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to support analysis and documentation
  • Good understanding of GAAP, accrual concepts, and revenue/payments accounting
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to move from raw data to a clear, well-supported insight
  • Excellent organizational skills, time prioritization, and ability to multitask across close, reconciliations, and project work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain data-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Blackline, or similar Finance systems a plus
  • Strong customer-service mindset; able to build relationships and partner cross-functionally
