About the Role
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for managing laboratory areas within laboratory sciences. Reviews data for accuracy and compliance with SOPs and GLP specifications. Trains other laboratory staff in technical procedures. Evaluates and optimizes utilization of laboratory resources to attain operational goals, meet study deadlines, and deliver quality results. Works with laboratory sciences director in formulating current and long-range plans, objectives, and policies.

What You'll do Here
  • Promote and monitor adherence to standard operating procedures and GLP regulations
  • Prepare and/or oversee writing and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Coordinate validation or repair of equipment as needed
  • Ensure laboratory materials and equipment, and use thereof, are compliant with safety policies, SOPs and GLP guidelines
  • Instruct and mentor others in proper laboratory techniques
  • Evaluate workflow and lab processes for improvements in operational efficiencies (i.e. automation, scheduling, etc.)


What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 6+ years lab management experience.
  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline with 4+ years lab management experience may substitute.
  • Lab Management in an FDA or EPA regulated facility required.
  • GLP method validation and performance of in-vitro assays and lab methods for preclinical studies.
  • Experience with multiple assay methodologies such as ELISAs, multiplex bead, flow cytometry, and qPCR.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory instrument calibration, performance tracking, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
  • English proficiency to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Advanced maths skills used to interpret and present scientific and business data to staff and upper management.
  • Stay up to date on GLP regulations and knowledge of ongoing formulation and analytical regulations, laws' rules and noticed on guidelines concerning preclinical drug development and business communication.
  • Scientific writing or electronic publishing experience preferred.
  • Basic computer software skills including Microsoft Office suite, and database programs.
  • Team leadership and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of tasks simultaneously.
