About the Role

The Sr Senior Staff Network / ToR Switch / Console Automation Test Engineer (TE) is responsible for designing, validating, and automating rack-scale networking and management infrastructure that supports hyperscale computing environments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational readiness of network platforms, Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches, console management systems, and associated infrastructure throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in networking technologies, test automation, and infrastructure validation with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for operational excellence. Working closely with networking, hardware, firmware, systems, and operations teams, this engineer develops robust testing frameworks that improve deployment quality, accelerate validation cycles, and ensure seamless operation of large-scale infrastructure environments.

What You Will Do

• Design and execute validation strategies for ToR switches, network fabrics, console infrastructure, and rack-scale networking systems.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks that improve network validation efficiency, coverage, and scalability.
• Create test plans, test cases, and verification methodologies for network functionality, performance, reliability, and resiliency.
• Validate switching, routing, management, and monitoring capabilities across hyperscale infrastructure environments.
• Perform integration, regression, stress, performance, and fault-tolerance testing of network and console management systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and operations teams to identify and resolve networking and infrastructure issues.
• Develop automation tools for deployment validation, configuration management, and operational readiness testing.
• Analyze network telemetry, logs, packet captures, and diagnostic data to investigate failures and drive root cause analysis.
• Support new platform bring-up, rack integration, and infrastructure qualification activities.
• Validate network infrastructure readiness for deployment into lab, production, and large-scale data center environments.
• Drive continuous improvements in validation methodologies, automation capabilities, and operational processes.
• Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and release readiness assessments to ensure networking requirements are fully validated.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in network validation, test engineering, infrastructure testing, or network automation roles.
• Strong understanding of Ethernet networking, switching, routing, VLANs, TCP/IP, network protocols, and data center architectures.
• Experience with ToR switches, console servers, network management platforms, and rack-scale infrastructure deployments.
• Hands-on experience developing test automation frameworks and tooling using Python, Ansible, Shell scripting, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with network test and monitoring tools such as Wireshark, IXIA, Spirent, traffic generators, and telemetry platforms.
• Experience validating high-performance networking environments within cloud, enterprise, or hyperscale data center infrastructures.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for complex network, infrastructure, and system-level issues.
• Knowledge of infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and operational readiness best practices.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and supporting mission-critical environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, validation, and operations organizations.
• Demonstrated success delivering automated validation solutions that improve network reliability, deployment confidence, and operational efficiency.

ZT Systems assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package is created for all our employees. The typical base salary for this position is expected to be around $116,250 - $155,000. If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
