Reporting to the Credit Director or a Credit Manager, the Credit Risk and Collections Specialist is responsible for assessing customer creditworthiness, managing financial risk associated with accounts receivable, and overseeing collection activities for a portfolio of complex, key, and/or export accounts. The incumbent is also involved in documenting and optimizing business processes.

This individual plays a key role in protecting the company's assets while fostering sustainable business relationships. Acting as a strategic advisor, they stay informed of global and industry economic trends and provide guidance on credit approval and collection decisions. As needed, they may provide functional supervision and serve as a backup to Credit Managers during absences and vacations. Finally, they support the deployment of key initiatives through training and coaching, while contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives and targets.

  • Salary scale 005: $84 600 to $105 800 (Base salary will be determined based on your academic background, experience, training, and skills related to the position.)


Your role in achieving results:

  • Act as a trusted advisor on credit risk management and collections for internal and external business partners.
  • Assess the financial risk of major and international accounts, recommending appropriate credit limits, payment terms, and risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide strategic oversight of customer accounts, optimize collection activities, and contribute to reducing financial losses.
  • Analyze supplier-related risks and formulate recommendations aligned with business needs and objectives.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, insurers, business partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor the Credit and Collections team in evaluating complex cases and resolving unique or challenging situations.
  • Serve as a super user of systems and platforms related to credit, collections, and customer data management.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of policies, processes, and practices to enhance overall departmental performance.
  • Contribute to management reporting, performance analysis, and the management of bad debt provisions.
  • Provide training, coaching, and functional support to team members.
  • Take part in strategic projects and the implementation of new initiatives that support organizational growth.
  • Act as an occasional backup for Credit Managers during absences or vacation periods.


What we are looking for to deliver these results:

  • 12+ years of experience in credit, collections, and credit risk analysis
  • University degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • CCP certification from the Credit Institute of Canada or an equivalent professional designation
  • Proven experience in the agri-food industry
  • Expertise in export credit and the management of complex accounts
  • Strong experience in financial statement analysis and creditworthiness assessments/interviews
  • Excellent understanding of Customer Master Data
  • Proficiency with systems such as SAP Fiori and Oracle
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
  • Ability to produce clear documentation and prepare analytical reports and recommendations
  • Bilingualism required (French and English, both written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in one or more additional languages is considered a strong asset
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
