Software Development Engineer II, Ring Quick Action Service
Key job responsibilities
- Own the overall systems development technical life cycle for team services.
- Guide the evolution of the team to offer real time search and analysis across RBKS organizations
- Develop tools to scale and manage large data clusters, automate onboarding of data, and develop self-service interfaces for the data management lifecycle.
- Maintain and support new integrations for our LogSynth MCP solution, RAG knowledge base, and REST-based API interfaces.
- Liaison to service teams to understand existing data sets and evaluate emerging technologies in the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence areas.
- Understand existing data streams and develop metrics from them to measure the customer experience, implement predictive modeling for proactive monitoring of KPI's.
- Evaluate the current ecosystem for log analytic plugins for customer value and write custom plugins to add insight into our service teams and customer metrics.
- Define a strategy for software unit, functional and performance testing; lead code review sessions with team.
- Implement optimal security practices while scaling existing and new data services.
- Contribute to operational excellence practices within the team and perform one week of on-call rotation a maximum of every four weeks.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business needs.
- Ensure best practices and architectural guidelines are followed, with a strong focus on cloud-optimized solutions.
A day in the life
- Build automation and self-service solutions.
- Participate in Operation Excellence reviews to spot negative trends before they become production issues.
- Contribute to code bases and peer review for infrastructure as well as supporting services.
- Help key stakeholders in a variety of security and application groups across Ring with data ingestion and analytic projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience in technical support, or experience operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience designing, building, operating, and managing large-scale distributed systems or web services
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, TypeScript, Go, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with observability tools, particularly log analytics platforms such as Splunk or OpenSearch
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
