Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Outpatient - RWJBarnabas Health

A typical day for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker may include:
  • Providing client-focused, evidence-based care to diverse individuals and their support systems to maximize health, well-being, functionality, and resiliency
  • Providing a process of patient care that includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes related to the presenting problem
  • Engaging with other professionals to assess, plan, deliver, integrate, and evaluate care
  • Supporting, delivering, and/or coordinating the appropriate level of care based on patient acuity
  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations, SBIRT, and motivational interviews and utilizing diagnostic criteria based on the DSM-5
  • Educating patients and families about treatment plans, interventions, medications, mental illness, symptom relief, comorbidities, and strategies to enhance overall health
  • Completing written evaluations, medical record communications, progress notes, and service coding utilizing the EMR system
  • Providing brief psychotherapy utilizing principles of CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and/or supportive therapy as needed
  • Measuring progress and effectiveness of treatment and adjusting the care plan as needed
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patients' treatment and records in accordance with HIPAA
  • Collaborating with other health care providers, internally and externally, as well as community and social service organizations
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development and seeking opportunities to develop further as a clinician

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by CSWE and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a current New Jersey license is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in psychotherapy practice is required
  • 6 months of experience in an outpatient setting is preferred
