How will your role impact First Command?

As a Senior Wealth Portfolio Manager, you will independently manage high net worth individual portfolios and develop client relationships. You will design and implement investment strategies, monitor performance, and provide comprehensive wealth management solutions. You will contribute to business development efforts. As a senior member of the team, you will also assist with escalated client concerns and help to develop more junior Wealth Portfolio Managers.

What will the employee do in this role?
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Directly or indirectly assist team members with escalated client concerns.
  • Assist the Director, Wealth Management in team leadership requirements as needed.
  • Managing client portfolios, including asset allocation and investment selection.
  • Preparing client reports and presentations.
  • Participating in client meetings and communications.
  • Developing personalized wealth management strategies based on client objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Leading client engagements and providing holistic wealth management solutions.
  • Developing innovative investment strategies and monitoring market trends.
  • Maintaining strong awareness of the financial markets and the economy.
  • Maintains a strong network within the industry.

What skills and qualifications do you need? (designate requirements vs. preferences)

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required. Emphasis in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field, preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in finance, investments, or portfolio management required.
  • Proven leadership experience.

Certifications & Licenses
  • A CFP®, CIMA®, CFA®, or ChFC®, or other similar designation is required.
  • Series 63 and 65, or Series 66, required, or must be acquired within 180 days of hire.
  • Series 7 required or must be acquired within 180 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prior people management experience is a plus.
  • Strong ability to use all components of Microsoft Office.
  • Current working knowledge of investment products and platforms. Experience with Envestnet or Money Guide Pro is a plus.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills required, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms.
  • Ability to compassionately handle client and advisor issues.
  • High level of problem-solving, mathematical, statistical and analytical skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to handle frequent interruptions throughout the day, addressing co-worker, advisor, employee and client needs, and still be able to accomplish necessary responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, to attend workshops/conferences or meet with clients/advisors.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Work well as part of a team; understand/respect the needs of others.
  • Ability to follow procedures and convey them to others.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and move quickly from one task to another.
