Overview:The Senior Designer works autonomously and works closely with our licensees and production teams, providing creative direction. They have knowledge of the brands and current trends in consumer products. They are also aware of the competitive landscape in the toy industry.
Responsibilities:- Oversee product development design of Paramount brands
- Can work on all Categories of toy and affiliated products.
- Actively generate new opportunities to enhance our brands
- Review submissions from licensees and respond in a timely manner
- Give comprehensible 3D comments to licensees and provide fully developed control drawings of characters or products when it is needed
- Maintain a consistently high level of quality, thoroughness and attention to detail
- Attend licensees' partner weekly meetings
- Problem solve aesthetic and manufacturing issues, especially cost reduction solutions
- Incorporate technological and innovative solutions to enhance our products
- Present and communicate concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments
- Brainstorm new product concepts for existing and new Paramount properties
- Generate creative, innovative concepts based on the direction given by the design management team, including presentations of concepts to the design team, business and executive management
- Utilizing both creative and strategic thinking around our brands
- Ensure consistent character modeling and styling for all of the Paramount properties
Basic Qualifications:- 7+ years of experience
- Bachelor degree (BA, BS) or equivalent experience in Industrial Design/Toy Design/Entertainment Design and Illustration
- Knowledge of the toy, licensing and entertainment industry and current toy products
- Experience in the Toy Manufacturing and entertainment industry
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, roto-molding, etc.) and plastic materials (polypropylene, ABS, etc.) and soft goods
- Knowledge/awareness of manufacturing costs of a toy and cost reduction strategies
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as an ability to do quick hand sketches
- Ability to think creatively and conceptually and to articulate his/her vision both verbally and visually
- Ability to problem-solve and work in a dynamic environment
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills
- Decisiveness, high-energy, and a sense of humor

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $74,400.00 - 93,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
