Are you ready to play a visible leadership role in the future of power systems and grid modernization? Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Controls Lead to join our growing Grid Integration team in the Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina area. In this role, you will help deliver cutting-edge solutions across Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), Power Quality Solutions, high-voltage power systems, and other advanced grid technologies that support the global energy transition.
As the Project Controls Lead for the Controls organization, you will serve as the key connection between highly technical engineering teams and project stakeholders. This role combines project leadership with technical oversight, offering the opportunity to influence project execution, guide priorities, manage risk, and support the successful delivery of complex power system solutions. The position is ideal for someone with a strong controls, SCADA, substation automation, or industrial control systems background who is looking to expand their leadership impact while remaining closely connected to technology. The role offers exceptional visibility, significant growth opportunities, and the chance to work on innovative projects that directly support modern power infrastructure. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
This is a hybrid position based in the Cary, NC area, with an expected presence in the office approximately 3 to 4 days per week. Relocation support may be available for qualified candidates.
How You'll Make an ImpactLead detailed project planning, schedule development, scope reviews, and budget forecasting for controls-related projects.
Coordinate across engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges and drive project execution.
Manage project risks, opportunities, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project performance and drive key metrics including on-time delivery and quality objectives.
Verify HMI and SCADA applications for FACTS and power electronics projects.
Support communication network implementation, documentation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, factory acceptance testing, and project reviews.
Influence project outcomes by enabling collaboration between technical experts, customers, and business stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
4 to 7 years of experience in industrial control systems, substation automation systems (SAS), or related power system technologies.
Experience leading projects, managing priorities, coordinating schedules, or driving project execution activities.
Knowledge of HMI, SCADA, industrial communications, and networked control systems.
Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, quality processes, and project management principles.
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently in a highly technical environment.
