Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role PurposeCommunications manager is responsible for partnering with Optical Communications' Business Units, including Optical Connectivity Solutions, Data Centers, and Optical Fiber and Cable, to develop, manage, and distribute global internal and executive communications. Leveraging strategic communications tools, tactics, and insights, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that internal audiences are informed, inspired, and engaged.
The position reports to the Global Business Communications Manager, Corning Optical Communications.
Key Responsibilities- Work with the global business communications manager to develop and execute communications strategies to align business units around business goals and objectives.
- Research, conduct interviews, write, edit, and post compelling content in multiple formats for various vehicles.
- Work as part of the COC Communications team on strategic narratives and building corporate brand and reputation.
- Assist in communication of strategies and business priorities from executive leaders, including the development of email messages, video scripts, talking points, Q&A, and speeches.
- Provide support or management of internal meetings and conferences, including quarterly business updates, event planning and logistics.
- Provide facility-specific communications counsel to plant managers and other members of the organization's operational facilities.
- Ensure that internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different businesses, functions, and geographies of the organization.
- Assist in the dissemination of information to internal audiences during crisis situations.
- Work cross-functionally with internal business partners, special project teams, and employee groups to serve as a resource and subject matter expert to develop and deliver effective communications.
- Measure effectiveness of communications efforts and offer solutions for improvements and optimizations.
- Develop and maintain Communications "best practice" processes and guidelines.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field
- Minimum 7 years' experience working on business communications for a large organization
- Writing skills in creative, business-like style for print, electronic, and various other media
- Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint
- Project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to travel up to 25%
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $131,318.00 - $180,562.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
