EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER - EL SEGUNDO, CAIn this role, you are responsible for the development of the Fly-By-Wire software starting with requirements specification, software design, verification and validation of the software per ARP 4754A, DO-178C, DO-330, and DO-331 requirements and support all FAA/DER reviews.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Design and develop flight software in embedded C in accordance with DO-178C DAL A.
- Develop low-level drivers and safety-critical monitoring systems for flight-critical applications.
- Develop and test embedded software components to interface with and control peripherals such as motors, encoders, heaters, and sensors.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers on hardware/software integration, including bring-up of new hardware and resolution of interface issues.
- Write, review, and approve software requirements, architecture, and design documents; support review of system-level requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development and verification processes to reduce cost and cycle time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of professional working experience.
- Experience building low-level drivers in embedded C.
- Experience with RTOS.
- Experience in developing software requirements, design, test, and verification documents.
- Experience in working with oscilloscopes, DMMs, and understanding schematics.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
- Proficiency with some of the following tools: C/C++, Python.
- Experience with bootloader, multi-target, and bare metal programming.
- Experience developing and verifying safety-critical software (e.g., DO-178C or similar standards).
- Experience with certification of software, systems, and subsystems working with DER/FAA.
