Full Job Description
Role Overview:We are seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join our Systems Integration team in the SF Bay Area. Systems integration lives at the boundaries between functions, evaluating both intended and unintended emergent behaviors of our systems. In this role you will own the integration of an assigned robotic subsystem from planning through bring-up and hand-off. You will independently drive root cause analysis within your scope and deliver trusted configurations and documentation to partner teams. You will also help evolve the tools and processes the team uses to integrate more effectively and efficiently.
Integration Planning
Author integration plans for your assigned subsystem, defining integration phases, functional tests, and needed integration tooling.
Review design inputs such as requirements and ICDs to identify integration risks and gaps before hardware arrives.
Track integration work and status so partners and leads have a clear view of progress.
System Bring-Up & Integration
Independently execute bring-up of new subsystems and support integration into full humanoid robotic systems.
Verify hardware/software interfaces and run functional tests to confirm correct operation, watching for unintended emergent behaviors.
Identify and document tested configurations, and commission functional assets for delivery to internal customers.
Capture integration results and residual risks in clear, actionable reports.
Issue Triage & Root Cause Analysis
Own triage and root cause analysis for issues within your subsystem, using structured problem-solving and data analysis.
Participate in cross-functional debugging sessions spanning mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
Document and hand off root causes to design teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Communicate integration status, risks, and findings clearly to a range of audiences across engineering and manufacturing.
Create documentation that transfers integration knowledge to partner teams and prevents recurrence of issues.
Propose and implement improvements to the team's tools, templates, and workflows.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians in systematic troubleshooting and integration practices.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 1+ years, in Systems Integration, test, hardware bring-up, or related R&D functions on electromechanical, mechatronic, or robotic systems.
Breadth of experience working with systems that include mechanical, electrical, and software components, with deeper fundamentals in at least two of these areas.
Demonstrated ownership of a subsystem or project through bring-up, testing, and issue resolution.
Track record of independently driving multi-domain issues to root cause.
Technical Expertise:
Hands-on proficiency with lab instrumentation, debug tools, and data logging.
Ability to read and write code for test, data analysis, and tooling (Python preferred).
Ability to read schematics, drawings, and interface documentation.
Experience designing and running engineering tests and analyzing the results.
Preferred: Experience with EtherCAT, git, actuators and motor control, embedded compute, or power systems.
Preferred: Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or other safety-critical domains.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
This a hybrid position based out of one of our Salem, OR or Fremont, CA offices.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range may change based on geographical location and may be modified in the future.
