We are looking for a highly motivated
Systems Engineer II to join our team!
As a Systems Engineer II, you will contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of cutting-edge instrumentation as part of our systems engineering team.
This is a full time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You'll Contribute- Execute end-to-end development including planning, development, optimization, and testing of workflows for life science automation and liquid handling systems. Own workflow from concept to customer delivery
- Collaborate with hardware and software development engineers to implement improvements in automation process efficiency and reliability
- Operate, troubleshoot and customize hardware and software components
- Interface with stakeholders to collect and define requirements, and provide user training and documentation
- Work with Chemistry and Biology teams to translate and optimize manual lab processes on automated machines
- Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities- BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry or closely related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in the development of scientific instruments from a systems integration perspective is strongly preferred
- Basic understanding of molecular biology, genomics, and other standard life science lab workflows and equipment
- Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python
- Meticulous and detail oriented with a hands-on approach to work
- Ability to define and follow complex operating procedures
- Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills

At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $100,000 and $120,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
