Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Instrumentation Technical Support and Training

In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure the Service portfolio is delivered effectively by partnering with customers to ensure the successful deployment, operation, and maintenance of our products, platforms, and systems. according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers. Each day, you will execute technical support, act as a specialist, and solve problems in your own area of expertise. You will also showcase your expertise by communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams proactively to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid out of Bartlesville, OK. #LI-Hybrid

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical support for ABB's full Instrumentation Portfolio - automation software and hardware, including system startup, troubleshooting, recovery, maintenance, and resolution of complex customer issues.
  • Deliver remote and on-site field service support, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting customer installations, and supporting product deployment and operational readiness.
  • Own customer incidents and escalations through resolution, ensuring timely communication of status, root causes, corrective actions, and solutions while meeting service-level commitments.
  • Build strong customer relationships by serving as a trusted technical advisor, proactively identifying risks, supporting production continuity, and delivering training and application guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management, Logistics, Calibration, Sales, and Services to resolve issues, improve products, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting technical knowledge, developing self-service support content, sharing best practices, and advocating for product enhancements based on customer feedback and field experience.

Qualifications for the role:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, CS, etc.) or related field is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, systems, platforms, or Instrumentation equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and relationship management skills. (Proficient or Native English speaker)
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality support and meeting customer service expectations.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting ABB's Instrumentation products
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation products and distributed I/O systems
  • Experience in field service, preventive maintenance, or managed services.
  • Familiarity with Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) methodologies.
  • Experience delivering technical training or customer coaching.
