Full Job Description
Clearbrook currently has an opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join the finance team at our New York location. Specializing in the preparation and analysis of US statutory financial statements ("Yellow books"), the successful candidate will leverage their accounting expertise within a collaborative team environment to generate high-quality financial statements and provide insightful analyses for effective internal and external reporting. The team holds a prominent position within the company and actively engages in finance projects and initiatives. Clearbrook is a subsidiary of Brookfield Wealth Solutions Ltd. Responsibilities • Support the month-end and quarter-end close process by preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation. • Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances. • Assist with the preparation of U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reports and related schedules. • Maintain accounting workpapers and documentation that support internal and external reporting requirements. • Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist in resolving outstanding differences. • Support internal and external audits by gathering requested documentation and responding to audit inquiries. • Ensure compliance with internal controls and established accounting policies and procedures. • Assist with accounting research and implementation of accounting guidance as directed by management. • Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy. • Collaborate with finance and business partners to support reporting and operational needs. Knowledge, Skills and Experience • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field • 2+ years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience. • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; exposure to insurance accounting or statutory reporting is a plus. • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and reporting tools such as Workiva is preferred. • Strong Excel skills, including pivots, lookups, and data analysis. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. The base salary range provided below is for hires in these geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package. • New York City Pay Range: $93,840.00 - $110,568.00 PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. At this time, we are not able to sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas.
