The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

Sr. Manager, Software Integration and Test

Kent, WA and Huntsville, AL

This role is part of the Blue National Security business unit. You will be a part of the Integration, Test, and Launch Operations organization, where you will lead a team responsible for software integration and testing for multiple programs. As the Sr. Manager for Software Integration and Test, you will be a people-first leader, dedicated to building and guiding a team of highly skilled engineers. You will oversee all aspects of your team's work, from technical execution to individual career growth, while supporting software in the loop (SIL), modeling and simulation, and SIL infrastructure. You will work closely with hardware in the loop (HIL) and vehicle test teams, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), the Flight Software (FSW) organization, and Systems Engineering to ensure the successful integration and validation of our software systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software integration and test team. Responsible for all aspects of people management including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and resource allocation.
  • Technical Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive software in the loop (SIL) test plans and validation plans for test beds.
  • Project Management: Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets to ensure on-time delivery of software integration and test objectives.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with HIL, vehicle test, FSW, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and testing across all platforms.
  • Process Improvement: Define, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
  • Communication: Report on test progress, and risks to program leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, integration, or testing within the aerospace industry.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a people management role, with a proven track record of building and leading successful teams.
  • Proficient in C/C++ development with strong technical prowess.
  • Skilled in Python or similar scripting languages.
  • In-depth knowledge of real-time operating systems and embedded control systems, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as UDP/TCP, I2C, UART, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Exceptionally organized with great written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale engineering systems.
  • Skilled in space vehicle software simulation integration.
  • Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Git, GitLab, or GitHub.
  • Strong debugging skills at the software-hardware interface.
  • Familiarity with hardware emulation tools like Simics.
  • Expertise in customizing continuous integration systems.
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering concepts.
  • Solid grasp of IP networking.
  • Competent in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Acquainted with GNC systems and 6DOF dynamics.
  • Proficient with DOORs Next Generation, SVN, and Jenkins.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Special Mentions:
  • Travel expected up to 10% of the time.

Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $197,004.00 - $275,805.60
