Posting Details

The role of a Senior Project Manager is to win new business or secure repeat business and manage all aspects of multiple transportation projects using Company project controls, available staff, and sub-consultant resources. These efforts require effective and efficient monitoring of the budgetary health of the projects and a greater level of client care. The individual production and coordination efforts are reduced significantly with the balance of the role being the actual management of the projects and engagement in business development activities. The Senior Project Manager develops their own client base through business development activities and developing long-standing, positive client relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads project teams to successful completion of quality deliverables.
  • Manages quality, budget, and schedule of responsible projects.
  • Actively engages and partners with BD personnel to identify and pursue project opportunities.
  • Participates in project interviews with potential and existing clients.
  • Develops and leads a cohesive team to achieve project objectives.
  • Generates sufficient business to sustain and grow responsible group.
  • Provides project delivery oversight and accountability for assigned projects with an elevated level of proficiency.
  • Effectively communicates (verbal and written) technical approach to projects and successful proposal strategies to staff, clients, and sub-consultants.
  • Performs the necessary functions and tasks to manage and develop direct reports effectively.
  • Achieves the established targets for financial success & utilization.
  • Performs quality control measures and audit quality control measures for project work.
  • Provides ongoing training in & support of internal training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10 -12 + years progressively responsible experience.
  • BS in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required; or PE in another state with the ability to obtain CA Licensure within one year.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of general engineering and design principles.
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of overall project deliverable processes (PSR, PAED, PS&E).
  • Ability to positively establish and grow client relationships.
  • Knowledge of effective business development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to chase, sell, and secure small-medium size project work with more and existing clients.
  • Competent/outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project financials and metrics.
