Full Job Description
Specialist, Acquisition and Divestiture Accounting to join our Global Controllership team at our North American HQ in Beachwood, OH. This position will support transaction-related financial reporting and play a key role in purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, goodwill and intangible asset impairment assessments, and research of complex accounting matters related to acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and integration activities. You will work closely with Strategy & Corporate Development, business finance teams, acquired operations, Legal, Tax, Treasury, external advisors, and senior finance leadership to support accurate, timely, and well-controlled accounting outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to develop deep technical accounting and transaction expertise while supporting high-visibility projects across Eaton's global portfolio.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

Job responsibilities
• Support Eaton's acquisition, divestiture, strategic investment, and integration activities through financial reporting, technical accounting analysis, and transaction accounting support.
• Help prepare and analyze recurring and transaction-specific reporting related to acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, strategic investments, goodwill, intangible assets, and other transaction-related accounting matters, including support for management reporting, financial statement disclosures, and other transaction-related reporting requirements.
• Support purchase accounting and opening balance sheet activities for completed acquisitions, including preparation and review of accounting schedules, coordination with valuation specialists, analysis of acquired assets and liabilities, and documentation of accounting conclusions under U.S. GAAP.
• Support annual and interim impairment assessments for goodwill, indefinite-lived intangible assets, and finite-lived intangible assets. Responsibilities may include gathering and validating financial information, preparing supporting analyses, coordinating with business finance teams and valuation advisors, reviewing key assumptions, and documenting conclusions for management and audit support.
• Support and perform technical accounting research and analysis related to acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, opening balance sheet matters, purchase price accounting, impairment analyses, and other complex M&A topics. This includes evaluating transaction-related accounting issues, interpreting U.S. GAAP, developing accounting conclusions, and preparing documentation for management and audit support.
• Support financial due diligence activities for acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic investments, including analysis of financial information, quality of earnings, working capital considerations, and identification of transaction-related accounting matters requiring further evaluation.
• Support divestiture accounting and finance integration activities, including analysis of transaction-related balances, preparation of supporting schedules, coordination of reporting requirements, and assistance with post-close accounting and control activities.

• Comfortable researching accounting issues, developing well-supported conclusions, and communicating those conclusions in a clear and practical manner.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across recurring reporting, transaction execution, and technical accounting activities.
• Proactive, curious, and able to work effectively with business finance teams, acquired operations, external advisors, auditors, and corporate stakeholders while delivering high-quality, audit-ready work products.

Basic qualifications
• Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum five (5) years of accounting, finance, audit, financial reporting, valuation, transaction advisory, or related experience.

Preferred qualifications
• Seven (7) or more years of accounting, finance, audit, transaction advisory, valuation, financial reporting, or related experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Master's degree from an accredited institution.
• Public accounting experience and/or experience supporting acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, financial diligence, or other complex business transactions.
• Experience working within a large, global organization.
