Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Solutions Architect to join an architecture team supporting an active enterprise cloud transformation. This is a high-impact role for someone who has played a significant part in migrating applications from on-premises environments to AWS and can confidently guide complex cloud architecture decisions.

To secure an interview, candidates should demonstrate hands-on architectural experience with AWS migrations, multi-account environments, and multiple AWS services, along with the ability to provide technical direction across cloud engineering, DevOps, security, and application teams.

Must Haves

• Significant experience architecting or leading migrations from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.
• Strong AWS solution architecture experience across complex enterprise applications.
• Experience designing solutions using several AWS services, such as CloudFront, EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS, and SageMaker.
• Proven experience making application and platform architecture decisions within a multi-account AWS environment.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, identity, certificates, and enterprise architecture considerations.
• Ability to evaluate technical alternatives, document architectural decisions, and clearly communicate recommendations to technical stakeholders.
• Experience partnering closely with cloud engineering, DevOps, security, and application development teams.
• Ability to operate as a design-focused architect rather than primarily serving as an infrastructure implementation engineer.

What the Client Needs You to Do

The organization is already progressing through a large-scale AWS migration, with multiple applications successfully moved to the cloud and a multi-account foundation established. The architect will help guide the next phase by resolving complex design questions and establishing architecture patterns that can be applied consistently across applications.

You will evaluate decisions involving areas such as private certificate authority, application connectivity, security architecture, and CloudFront usage for internal and external applications. Success in this position requires balancing security, scalability, performance, operational simplicity, and long-term maintainability while working closely with the teams responsible for implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define AWS architecture patterns and provide technical direction for applications transitioning from on-premises environments to the cloud.
• Evaluate complex cloud design options and recommend solutions based on security, scalability, performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
• Guide architecture decisions across applications operating within an established multi-account AWS framework.
• Design solutions leveraging appropriate AWS services, including CloudFront, EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS, SageMaker, and related cloud capabilities.
• Assess when CloudFront and similar services should be used for internal applications versus externally accessible or customer-facing workloads.
• Establish architectural guidance for certificate management, including private certificate authority requirements and secure application communication.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams responsible for infrastructure provisioning, Terraform development, and ongoing cloud operations.
• Partner with DevOps teams using Jenkins and related deployment processes to ensure application delivery aligns with approved architecture.
• Work closely with security stakeholders to incorporate cloud security requirements into architecture decisions from the beginning.
• Document architecture decisions, design patterns, technical tradeoffs, and recommendations so implementation teams have clear direction.

Additional Information

This position sits within the architecture function and is primarily responsible for solution design, technical decision-making, and architectural guidance. The role is not expected to own day-to-day infrastructure provisioning or cloud operations; dedicated cloud engineering resources handle Terraform implementation and operational responsibilities.

AWS certifications are preferred but not required. Relevant certifications may include AWS Solutions Architect or other architecture-focused AWS credentials.

Exposure to artificial intelligence or machine learning workloads is beneficial, particularly experience involving services such as SageMaker, but AI expertise is not a core requirement for the position.
