Job Summary:The Solutions Architect - Strategic Projects is a skilled individual contributor embedded within OpenGov's Strategic Projects Team, focused on quality assurance, technical validation, and solution design for complex government software implementations in the PS portfolio.
This role is grounded in hands-on QA and testing execution: building and running validation frameworks, leading UAT in multi-stakeholder environments, and ensuring that what gets configured actually works in the field. The SA brings technical rigor to implementation delivery, partners closely with senior architects and delivery leads, and contributes to the team's configuration standards and quality practices.
The ideal candidate is a disciplined QA practitioner with growing solution architecture skills who operates with high technical accuracy, communicates clearly with clients and internal teams, and is building toward independent ownership of complex delivery workstreams.
Responsibilities:QA, Testing & Implementation Validation- Execute end-to-end test plans for complex, multi-product implementations; evaluate configuration models, cross-system dependencies, and data environments to surface and resolve quality gaps.
- Apply and maintain go-live readiness criteria, configuration quality benchmarks, and post-go-live validation standards for assigned engagements.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on configuration, product behavior, and data issues; escalate systemic patterns to senior SAs or PS leadership with clear documentation.
- Operate within established QA frameworks, defect tracking standards, and readiness scoring systems; contribute improvements based on field observations.
- Serve as a reliable escalation resource on configuration and quality issues within assigned engagements, providing clear, client-ready findings and remediation recommendations.
UAT Leadership- Lead UAT planning and execution for assigned implementations; define acceptance criteria in partnership with clients, product teams, and delivery leads.
- Adapt risk-based testing approaches to specific engagement dependencies and requirements.
- Support stakeholder alignment on acceptance criteria through structured recommendations and clear tradeoff documentation.
Solution Architecture & Technical Design- Partner with delivery leads and senior SAs to translate multi-stakeholder requirements into product-driven configurations; take increasing ownership of solution design as proficiency grows.
- Apply and contribute to technical standards, configuration libraries, and solution design templates used across the PS organization.
- Support pre-sales scoping efforts by contributing technical input on delivery feasibility and flagging configuration risks, under the guidance of PS Leadership.
Cross-Functional Liaison & Product Influence- Translate field QA observations and client feedback into structured product input, routing to senior SAs or the PS-to-R&D liaison for roadmap consideration.
- Document quality and configuration patterns across assigned engagements; flag systemic product gaps or delivery risks for PS leadership review.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Change Management as directed to align on user readiness, adoption criteria, and go-live sequencing within assigned workstreams.
Collaboration & PS Methodology- Share QA knowledge and configuration best practices with Implementation Consultants and peers through day-to-day collaboration and informal guidance.
- Adhere to quality oversight mechanisms: reviews, audits, playbook standard, and contribute observations that improve delivery consistency across the portfolio.
- Support the evolution of OpenGov's PS delivery methodology by documenting field learnings and contributing to playbook updates.
Requirements and Preferred Experience:Experience- 4-7 years in enterprise software implementation, software QA, solutions architecture, or implementation consulting, preferably in SaaS environments.
- Demonstrated experience executing QA and validation delivery on complex, multi-workstream technology programs with phased go-lives.
- Track record of applying repeatable QA frameworks and testing methodologies across team engagements.
- Experience with or strong aptitude for state and local government technology programs; willingness to develop fluency in public sector implementation dynamics.
Technical Proficiency- Demonstrated experience executing end-to-end test plans across complex, multi-platform systems; ability to evaluate configuration models, data environments, and cross-system dependencies.
- Aptitude for enterprise SaaS configuration methodology, including workflow design, data migration, and multi-product architecture.
- Working understanding of cloud-based platform architecture.
Communication & Stakeholder Influence- Ability to participate in and support discovery sessions, design workshops, and UAT reviews, contributing clear documentation and follow-up.
- Demonstrated ability to present QA findings, solution risks, and technical observations to client stakeholders in a clear, accessible way.
- Collaborative working style with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Change Management.
Additional Requirements- Willingness to travel to client sites for discovery, testing workshops, go-live support, and stakeholder meetings.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or commensurate experience.
- ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent QA certification preferred.
