As a Solution Support Engineer and the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and technologies across multiple agencies, including DOC, Clemency Review Commission (CRC), Cannabis Expungement Board (CEB), and Ombudsman for Corrections (OBFC). Your responsibilities will span supporting agency-wide applications such as building automation and paging systems, collaborating with MNIT partners and enterprise services, and applying communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maximize IT system investments. You will serve as the IT point of contact for assigned solutions, providing incident resolution, troubleshooting, and operational support, while maintaining solution documentation and ensuring compliance with MNIT policies. The role involves analyzing, designing, and developing systems to meet operational needs, minimize downtime, and uphold performance, security, and disaster recovery standards. You will coordinate with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams, deliver status reports, mentor colleagues, and participate in professional development and training. Additionally, you are expected to comply with information security and accessibility policies, maintain reliable attendance, and contribute to initiatives that simplify and reduce solution portfolio costs, all while fostering strong working relationships and upholding the agency's values and policies.
This position requires an employee to work onsite at1450 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with limited telework available. Telework eligibility depends on residence:
- Candidates living in Minnesota or within 50 miles of the worksite in a bordering state (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) may telework up to 50%.

Experience must include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, including incident response and root-cause analysis to restore services efficiently.
- Documenting technical procedures, configurations, inventories, or runbooks for operational use.
- Managing incidents, work orders, system upgrades, and service restoration across complex technical environments.
- Analyzing, designing, and configuring technical solutions to meet operational, security, and disaster-recovery needs, including testing and validating system changes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to implement, support, or enhance enterprise systems and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.

- Proficiency with modern application and platform architectures, including client-server environments, SaaS, Active Directory/server support, or networking protocols.
- Experience conducting technical analysis and planning related to upgrades, enhancements, disaster recovery, or long-range system improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience performing system design, configuration, acceptance testing, and quality assurance for enterprise applications or technical solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with incident/problem management, including trend analysis and root-cause identification for recurring or complex issues.
- Ability to evaluate hardware/software life cycles and recommend upgrades, replacements, or improvements.
