The Opportunity Our West coast team is looking for a Transformative Roadway Design Leader. The team is growing and is looking to bring aboard a technical leader who can deliver on Arup's values and work at both the planning and engineering delivery phases of our projects.
The team undertakes unique and challenging projects. We look for team members with the creativity, technical expertise and attention to client needs to develop impactful solutions. Our current projects include work for the public and private sector to craft creative street design, roadway access to major regional attractions, transit integration, future mobility, zero-emission vehicles, and pedestrian & bicycle facilities.

Responsibilities: - Help shape the future of Arup's roadway design business in alignment with our sustainable development goals, social equity and climate commitments.
- Manage complete street & mobility design projects including oversight of all aspects of conceptual design through construction documents.
- Oversee aspects of work and staff on major roadway infrastructure projects, including familiarity with design standards (including Green Streets components) and processes.
- Manage preparation of high-quality project deliverables, including print documentation and presentations.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external meetings and representing Arup to clients and the public.
- Support business development efforts to secure roadway and mobility design work and build client relationships. Leveraging connections with professional colleagues, developing marketing leads, preparing marketing proposals and materials.
- Deliver high-quality products, support financial performance of projects, be responsible for client relationships, and manage subcontractors
- Manage junior staff participating in project work
Is this role right for you?- Undergraduate or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 10-15 years progressively responsible professional experience. Experience working with State DOTs and Caltrans projects a plus.
- Portfolio of professional street design projects.
- Professional leadership demonstrated by publications, committee memberships, professional presentations or other activities.
- Experience utilizing and managing documents in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Engineering license in California (or ability to obtain in short order).
- Experience managing projects with NEPA/CEQA requirements, coordination with traffic analysts, and utilities team members.

San Francisco, CA, United States Hiring Range - Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Francisco, CA is $130,000 to $160,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco, CA will differ.
