Full Job Description
Your Role

Cloud and software are among the largest investments we make, and every dollar there is one that could also be going toward the product itself or the team building it. Our FinOps practice exists to make sure that spend is understood, accountable, and every dollar is working as efficiently as it can. As a Senior Systems Analyst, you'll own that picture end to end. You'll allocate spend back to the services and teams driving it, forecast where it's headed, and consult teams on best practices to propose changes that maximize efficiency. You'll be the single, trusted source of truth for product and leadership on the real cost of what we build and what's on the roadmap to better leverage those dollars we put to work.

As a Senior Systems Analyst, you'll:
  • Forecast and get ahead of cost. You'll own the models that track, allocate, and predict where our cloud and software spend is going, monitor AWS and the rest of our stack for anomalies, and action them the moment they surface. When something breaks, you won't just put out the fire, you'll build the guardrails that keep it from starting again.
  • Turn spend into decisions leadership can act on. You'll maintain the chargeback model that ties every dollar back to the service, squad, or contract that incurred it, and partner with Accounting and FP&A to keep the numbers aligned. When leaders have a question about cost, you're the single pane of glass they come to.
  • Automate anything worth doing twice. You'll write Python and leverage GitHub Actions and Lambda to take manual work off the team's plate, manage AWS reservations and Savings Plans, and use SQL and DBT against our data warehouse. If a task repeats, it's a candidate for automation, and you're the one who builds it.
  • Find the work, then drive it home. You'll spot cost and efficiency opportunities on your own, shape them into a formal pitch, and once approved, carry them across engineering, product, finance, and accounting to completion. You're the connective tissue that keeps it all moving.
Location

Time spent collaborating with other Hudlies in-office will be a regular part of how you work. We're currently prioritizing applicants within commuting distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska. You'll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, but will have the freedom to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.
Must-Haves
  • See the story in the numbers. You bring 5+ years across data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, and you're just as comfortable digging into a trend as you are building a budget or projecting what comes next (Cloud FinOps context strongly preferred).
  • Fluent in automation and scripting. You have 5+ years using code to eliminate manual work, with strong proficiency in Python and working comfort in SQL.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS. You have hands-on experience with AWS, its pricing and cost models, and committed-use strategies like Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You can walk into an undefined problem, research it, define a path forward in a formal pitch, and manage it to completion using Scrum or Kanban in Jira, all without waiting to be told how.
  • Strong communicator and connector. You can explain complex analysis to Directors and VPs as easily as to engineers, and you build the relationships that let you move work across teams. You work independently without working in a silo, bringing others along and cross-training as you go.
  • AI-forward. You use AI to make yourself and others faster, sharper, and more well-rounded. That's a requirement here, not a novelty. Experience with the Claude ecosystem is a plus.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Knowledge of our tech stack. Experience with CloudZero, Terraform (via Spacelift), GitHub Actions or AWS Lambda, SQL, DBT, Python, and leveraging APIs for sourcing data and management.
  • FinOps credentials. FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP), or hands-on experience applying FinOps best practices.
  • A software engineering background. Foundational software engineering experience that helps you build solutions, not just analyze them.
Our Role
  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees' wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
  • Cover your medicalinsurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you'll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that's free money. We'll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
