Full Job Description

GEICO seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the Substantiation Platform—systems thatvalidate and reconcile financial data across enterprise sources, supporting controls, compliance, and auditability at high volume.

You will work with Finance, Compliance, Product,the Financial Data Warehouse, and ERP-aligned teams to deliver reliable reconciliation services, clear data lineage, andintegratesource systemswith financialreporting and GL-relatedERPworkflows.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will:

  • Provide technical and architectural leadership for substantiation and reconciliation services, APIs, and related data paths.

  • Build scalable, secure,highly availablesoftware for matching, exceptions, and financial controls.

  • Drive modernization initiatives—including evolution away from legacy reconciliation and financial systems.

  • Own solutions end-to-end—design through production—including quality, reliability, performance, and observability.

  • Align withProduct,Finance, Compliance, andTreasury onrequirements and operational outcomes.

  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning; influence leadership at multiple levels through clear articulation of tradeoffs and roadmaps.

Qualifications

  • Fluency and specialization with at least one modern language such as Java,C#,or Go

  • Microservices / SOA, REST andgRPC(or comparable APIs), solid SQL and relational design at scale

  • Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, containers, IaC, and production DevOps/observability practices

  • Proven architecture and design for distributed, data-heavy systems; strong production troubleshooting

  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical partners; Agile delivery experience

  • Expertise in complex problem-solving autonomy, including troubleshooting critical production issues and devising creative, scalable technical solutions under pressure

Experience

  • 10+ years software development with staff/principal-level impact.

  • 8+ years leading architecture and large initiatives with cross-functional technical leadership.

  • 6+ years cloud-native / distributed systems in production.

  • 4+ years major cloud platform.

  • 3+ years high-volume data, reconciliation, or financial/payments/ledger-adjacent systems.

Preferred

  • Financial services / insurance; ERP/GL familiarity.

  • Kafka /Snowflake/ Airflow;Python/PySpark/Snowparka plus.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience.

Annual Salary

$120,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
