OverviewDo you want to help build the real-time video platform behind some of Microsoft's communication experiences?
The Intelligent Conversation and Communication Cloud (IC3) Video Platform team builds and evolves technologies that enable real-time video experiences across Microsoft products. Our team works across the video stack, including camera capture and device interaction, video processing, encoding, rendering, and platform integration. We focus on delivering reliable, efficient, and high-quality video experiences across devices and platforms.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the IC3 Video Platform team, you will design, develop, and improve foundational video platform technologies. You will solve complex engineering problems involving real-time media, performance, reliability, hardware and operating system integration, and cross-platform software. You will collaborate with engineers and partner teams across Microsoft to develop technical solutions, diagnose production issues, and improve the performance and reliability of the platform.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with engineers and partner teams to understand customer scenarios, define technical requirements, identify dependencies, and contribute to architecture and design decisions.
- Design, implement, test, optimize, debug, and maintain software for real-time video and media platform components, with a focus on performance, reliability, maintainability, security, and efficiency.
- Investigate complex video, camera, device, and media pipeline issues across hardware, operating system, and application layers, and develop solutions that improve product reliability and customer experiences.
- Use telemetry, diagnostics, performance analysis, and experimentation to understand production behavior, identify performance and reliability opportunities, and evaluate engineering improvements.
- Drive technical designs and engineering projects across component and team boundaries, collaborating with partner teams to deliver solutions across supported platforms and device configurations.
- Participate in the team's Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on-call rotation. Investigate and respond to live-site incidents, collaborate with appropriate partner teams on mitigation and resolution, communicate status to stakeholders, and contribute to improvements that increase service reliability and supportability.
- Contribute technical expertise through design and code reviews, documentation, engineering best practices, and mentoring. Identify opportunities to improve the architecture, quality, security, performance, and engineering efficiency of the platform.
