Senior Project Manager - Transmission & Substation

Location: Washington, DC (Client Site - Penn Quarter)

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 Annual Base Salary Range

Position Overview

CARIAN is seeking a Senior Project Manager with deep transmission and substation experience to support high-visibility electric utility capital programs across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role leads complex infrastructure workstreams and coordinates closely with engineering, construction, and utility stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring strong utility execution experience, sound program judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a client-facing delivery environment with regular presence at client and field locations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead transmission and substation capital projects from planning through execution
• Manage integrated project schedules, budgets, and risk profiles
• Coordinate with utility engineering, construction, and contractor teams
• Track project performance and drive corrective actions
• Support executive reporting and program-level visibility
• Ensure compliance with utility standards and regulatory requirements
• Participate in site visits and field coordination activities
• Support multi-state project coordination as required

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related technical field required.
• Experience Level: 12+ years of utility project management experience
• Strong background in transmission and substation programs
• PMP certification required
• Experience with Exelon-family utilities preferred (Pepco, ACE, DPL, PECO, BGE, ComEd)
• Otherwise, Mid-Atlantic / Northeast utility experience preferred
• Must reside within the DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia, Delaware, or Baltimore footprint
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex utility capital programs
• Willingness for frequent on-site and field presence

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000 annually. This range represents a good faith estimate at the time of posting; actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base salary, the role includes eligibility for bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and a company 401(k) match.
