The Opportunity
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering large-scale data center infrastructure projects that support the reliability, resilience, and modernization of critical power systems across North America. Working across complex project environments ranging from Substation Automation Systems (SAS), SCADA, Protection & Control solutions, telecommunications, cybersecurity, E-House deployments, and integrated electrical infrastructure, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
This role offers the opportunity to manage projects valued from $10M to $50M+, balancing technical execution, commercial performance, customer expectations, and project risk. You will collaborate with customers, EPC contractors, engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturing partners, and executive stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes while ensuring quality, safety, schedule adherence, and contractual compliance. Your work will directly contribute to the implementation of modern grid technologies that help support expanding power demands and critical infrastructure development.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage large and complex data center infrastructure projects from contract award through final acceptance.
- Establish project execution strategies, governance frameworks, communication plans, and stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, testing, and field execution activities.
- Own project financial performance, including forecasting, cash flow management, revenue recognition, and margin protection.
- Oversee contract administration, change order management, claims resolution, and commercial negotiations.
- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and drive critical path management activities.
- Coordinate engineering, factory testing, system integration testing, delivery, commissioning, and energization milestones.
- Provide technical oversight for SCADA, Substation Automation Systems, Protection & Control solutions, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and modular infrastructure projects.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, mitigation plans, and contingency strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as the primary customer-facing project representative, presenting project status, risks, and recovery plans to senior stakeholders.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field with a minimum of 10 years of combined experience in Engineering and Project Management functions; OR Technical Degree with a minimum of 15 years of combined experience in Engineering and Project Management functions.
- 10+ years of project management experience within power systems, grid automation, data centers, utilities, EPC, or industrial infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects valued at $15M or greater.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams consisting of more than 30 resources.
- Experience serving in customer-facing project management roles with executive-level communication responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with Protection & Control systems, data center electrical infrastructure, E-House solutions, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, or energization activities.
- Experience using Primavera P6 scheduling tools and SAP-based financial project controls.
- PMP certification preferred.
- MBA or Master’s Degree preferred.
