The Role: - We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is excited to bring ideas to life through thoughtful, hands-on design. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and test mechanical concepts, from overall packaging strategies to detailed mechanisms and components, while balancing function, aesthetics, and cost. This is a hybrid position where most weeks will require between 2 and 4 days in-office, with the potential for frequent travel to local client sites.
Responsibilities:- Lead, advise and assist a team of engineers to execute projects, ensuring on-time submission of deliverables.
- Provide guidance to junior team members.
- Work with teams to design and test mechanical concepts for overall packaging strategies, mechanisms, and parts - all while balancing function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements.
- Provide DFX expertise to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, serviceability, and sustainability.
- Work independently with clients or as a lead/team member on larger projects.
- Manage and facilitate client interactions with clear communication as it relates to deliverables, design reviews and deadlines.
- Communicate with senior management any significant deviations from project plans.
- Coordinate internal team staffing and budget requirements for projects.
- Be a positive and success-oriented individual who is familiar with the latest product development, production, and rapid prototype methodologies.
- Work with team members to resolve conflicts among resources and between clients and engineering teams.
- Remain apprised of the progress of certain projects, paying particular attention to any developing problems, and participate in major problem resolutions.
- Be proficient in the latest version of SolidWorks CAD package.
- Keep all privileged information private and confidential.
- Travel as needed (valid driver's license and vehicle required).
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 5+ years direct mechanical engineering experience
- Industrial automation or robotics experience
- Mechanical design and DFX, particularly with respect to sheet metal, machining and weldments
- 2D drawing creation, GD&T
- Project management and team leadership

The pay range for this role is:
105,000 - 135,000 USD per year (Wilmington Office)
