Senior Mechanical Engineer II, you will lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of automated industrial equipment and material handling solutions, with an emphasis on product engineering, reliability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
You will take ownership of complex engineering challenges, provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and engineering vendors, and collaborate across disciplines to develop innovative, practical solutions.
This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on problem-solving, and the ability to drive projects from concept through production.
On a given day, you may:- Design and development mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software.
- Develop engineering specifications, design calculations, technical documentation, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Lead mechanical engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development through manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
- Apply lean design principles and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to improve product performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Design and integrate mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
- Perform engineering analysis and design reviews to ensure functionality, safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical guidance on engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with production, electrical and software engineering, purchasing, and service teams to deliver engineering solutions.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to evaluate components, resolve technical challenges, and support engineering deliverables.
- Lead hands-on troubleshooting, testing, root cause analysis, and design validation.
- Drive product standardization, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage engineering changes and maintain accurate product documentation within PLM systems.
- Travel (up to 20%) domestically and report onsite in Chalfont, PA.
Qualifications (Required)- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of relevant mechanical design or product engineering experience.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably Creo and Windchill.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, DFMEA, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis.
- Experience leading technical projects.
- Experience developing engineering specifications and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex engineering problems and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience supporting equipment development and troubleshooting.
Qualifications (Preferred Experience)- Product design and lifecycle engineering
- Lean design and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
- Designing Hydraulic and electromechanical systems
- Designing Automated equipment and material handling systems
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Machining, fabrication, and welding processes
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
