We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Manager - Ontology & Digital Asset Management.

The Senior Manager, DAM Administrator is a strategic role that will drive the design, governance, and evolution of NYU Langone Healths information architecture. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional with expertise in information science, metadata frameworks, digital asset management systems, and automation workflows. This person plays a crucial role in bringing NYU Langone Healths data into a clear, accessible, AI-friendly structure for all teams who leverage it and all audiences who access it by acting as a primary consultant for enterprise-wide data architecture, as well as ensuring that digital assets are integrated into a cohesive, searchable ecosystem. By transforming disparate, manually curated data sources into an AI-ready ontology, this role ensures that the NYU Langone Health brand is supported by scalable, policy-driven data that connects patient needs with clinical expertise across all digital touchpoints.
Reporting directly to the Director, Marketing Technology Strategy & Innovation, this position will join a team responsible for ensuring seamless technology implementation and management, cost-effective solutions, and strategic vendor partnerships across marketing technology platforms. By applying expertise in ontology and taxonomy, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, the Senior Ontologist & DAM Administrator will optimize digital collaboration and data-driven insights at NYU Langone Health, bridging the gaps between systems and departments to ensure that linked data remains consistently accurate across the healthcare system and enables flexible, best-in-practice patient experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Enterprise Data Strategy

• Lead the development and maintenance of a patient-centered, AI-ready ontology that serves as a unified language across the organization, aligning current taxonomies, web IA, and linked data with real patient search demand, clinical accuracy, and AI friendly principles to improve NYULH AI agents efficacy, provider profile tagging, and web automation and patient experience.
• Act as a cross-functional liaison and internal consultant to map disparate data structures across the institution, translating them into a unified framework that ensures interoperability and consistent data flow between teams at NYULH, making reporting easier and more reliable.
• Partner with Data Science and Engineering teams to build AI-driven taxonomy maintenance and tagging strategies for PDH and ContentHub that automatically audit metadata health, identify gaps, consolidate redundancies, and surface new patient-searched terms to improve discoverability. Replace manual processes with scalable, AI-assisted solutions to enable faster decision-making and consistent application of tagging, as well as reduce manual administration that interrupts workflows.
• Continuously evaluate NYULHs linked data frameworks.

Governance, Training, & Enablement

• Author and enforce governance documentation, including data dictionaries and metadata standards, to ensure long-term consistency across the NYULH data landscape.
• Provide user training, troubleshooting support, and best practice guidance on structured data systems to ensure optimal adoption.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for taxonomy inquiries, conducting onboarding sessions for new users and regular training for existing staff.
• Proactively monitor taxonomy performance and user behavior; deliver actionable reports and recommendations to improve searchability, workflows, and return on investment. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for taxonomy health, metadata quality, and system adoption to demonstrate business value and guide continuous improvement.

Digital Asset Management

• Manage operations of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform (Bynder), ensuring assets are properly organized, cataloged, and integrated into the enterprise metadata schema to make them findable and ease workflow bottlenecks.
• Lead the onboarding of new departments into the DAM platform, including legacy asset audits, metadata mapping, and workflow integration.
• Partner with creative and IT teams to automate DAM workflows (e.g., auto-tagging, system integrations) that reduce manual entry and increase operational efficiency.
• Maintain platform integrity through collaboration with MCIT and external vendors for system maintenance, upgrades, and performance optimization.
• Monitor DAM performance and user behavior; deliver reports and recommendations to improve searchability, workflows, and ROI.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in Taxonomy, Information Architecture, and/or DAM Administration.
• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
• Proficiency with enterprise DAM platforms (e.g., AEM, Bynder, Widen), familiarity with SQL, and proficiency with ontology/taxonomy management tools and systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare, research, or educational content management is a plus.
• Strong understanding of metadata standards, linked data standards, and digital rights management.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,493.51 - $175,076.17 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
