About the roleDesign is central to how Rippling turns complex business software into products our customers can understand, trust, and use. As the senior product design manager for our AI Platform, you will lead the design work that defines how AI shows up across Rippling's product suite: agents, workflows, approvals, growth and adoption, trust patterns, and model design.
This is a senior design leadership role for someone who can manage and coach strong designers while staying close to the craft, systems thinking, and product strategy required to make enterprise AI useful. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and cross-functional teams to create AI experiences that are coherent, reliable, and deeply integrated into the way businesses run.
What you will do- Lead Product Design for AI Platform, shaping the interaction models, UX patterns, and design principles that guide AI experiences across Rippling.
- Manage, coach, and raise the bar for designers working in ambiguous, high-leverage platform problem spaces.
- Define reusable patterns for agents, generated UI, human-in-the-loop approvals, trust, explainability, citations, error recovery, and user control.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to translate ambiguous AI platform opportunities into coherent, shippable product experiences.
- Drive cross-product alignment so AI experiences feel consistent, permission-aware, and useful across HR, IT, Finance, workflow, and admin surfaces.
- Use customer insight, product data, competitive analysis, and internal team feedback to identify the highest-leverage design opportunities.
- Create operating rituals for design reviews, pattern adoption, quality control, and cross-functional decision-making.
- Help attract, evaluate, and close senior design talent for Product Design and AI Platform.
What you will need- 10+ years of overall product design experience, including substantial work in complex B2B, enterprise SaaS, platform, workflow, developer tools, productivity, fintech, or AI product environments.
- 3+ years of product design management experience, including managing, coaching, and developing senior designers while maintaining a high bar for craft and product judgment.
- Strong systems thinking, with the ability to connect product surfaces, workflows, permissions, states, edge cases, and technical dependencies into coherent user experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to create reusable interaction patterns or design-system primitives that scale across multiple teams or product areas.
- Fluency in AI product challenges such as model uncertainty, generated output, user trust, explainability, human-in-the-loop decision-making, feedback loops, and error recovery.
- Strong cross-functional leadership with Product, Engineering, Research, GTM, CX, and executive stakeholders.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills; able to turn complex, multi-team decisions into crisp narratives that drive alignment and execution.
- A portfolio or body of work showing shipped product impact, strong craft, and leadership through ambiguity.
About the TeamThe AI Platform team is focused on making AI a practical, trusted, and deeply integrated part of Rippling's platform. Rippling has a unique foundation for enterprise AI: a connected business graph, permission model, workflow surface, and product breadth across HR, IT, Finance, apps, devices, approvals, and employee data. Product Design's role is to make those capabilities understandable, controllable, and useful for customers and internal builders.
This role will work closely with design leaders, product managers, engineers, researchers, and teams across Rippling to define AI interaction patterns that can scale across the company.

The pay range for this role is:
177,000 - 295,000 USD per year (US Tier 1)
159,300 - 265,500 USD per year (US Tier 2)
150,450 - 250,750 USD per year (US Tier 3)
