Full Job Description
We are looking for a Sr. Director Data Center Microgrid Commissioning to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies.

This role will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week when not traveling.

Travel: Ability to travel roughly 75% to locations in the USA or International as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning & Site Management
  • Act as the executive escalation point for critical commissioning issues and customer concerns.
  • Manage commissioning and field checks of new multi-megawatt installations including for data centers, microgrids and other critical customers
  • Review on-site work and documentation to meet Quality guidelines
  • Ensure exemplary safety and performance during site construction and commissioning
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to be able to verify site layout matches designs and meets serviceability requirements

Process Improvement & Standardization
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce commissioning timelines and cost
  • Define and drive global standards for commissioning and site upgrades across all BE platforms (fuel cell, electrolyzer, marine etc.)
  • Influence technology and process roadmaps by collaborating with Engineering & Manufacturing leadership
  • Implement effective training resources and training programs to raise the field technician benchmark of troubleshooting, incident reporting and rounded level of technical experience.

Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Shape cross-functional strategies with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to ensure Service safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Coordinate with Operations to verify shipments match site BOM and meet critical delivery dates
  • Build executive relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure alignment and trust
  • Interface with Legal and Finance team during contract negotiations to provide timelines, guidance, documentation, and feedback

Project & Budget Management
  • Provide executive reporting on commissioning performance metrics to senior leadership
  • Create and execute project operations budgets and schedules
  • Track, manage and execute assigned aspects of Field Service's Site System Upgrade program
  • Travel to customer sites to provide planning oversight and coordination as needed


Experience:
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale commissioning or construction programs for multi-megawatt installations (data centers, microgrids, or similar critical infrastructure).
  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams, including contractors, superintendents, and internal staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement global standards and processes for commissioning and site upgrades
  • Awareness of safety protocols on job sites, OSHA certified a plus
  • Field experience with an emphasis on electrical up to 480VAC preferred
  • Familiarity with electrical, plumbing, and building codes
  • Experience leading a construction team a plus
  • Experience managing many stacked, parallel, short-duration projects


Qualification
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction, commissioning, or large-scale infrastructure projects; experience with data center microgrid commissioning strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical, or related field); advanced degree a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at executive levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with ability to anticipate challenges and pivot quickly.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level customer engagement.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent program management experience preferred.
