How You'll Make an Impact:

As a Business Risk Analyst supporting FCC's Trading, Securities Lending, and Treasury businesses, you will help identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across key capital markets functions. You will leverage strong analytical skills to develop and enhance risk reporting, dashboards, and key risk metrics, transforming data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making and risk oversight.

You will lead RCSAs, conduct operational risk reviews, analyze risk trends and events, and evaluate the effectiveness of key controls to strengthen the overall risk and control environment. By combining data analysis with risk expertise, you will identify emerging risks, highlight opportunities for process improvements, and provide meaningful recommendations to business leaders.

In addition, you will represent Risk Management in business and technology change initiatives impacting Trading, Treasury & Securities Lending, ensuring risks, controls, and governance requirements are appropriately incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.

Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, operational risk expertise, reporting and visualization capabilities, and effective stakeholder management. The successful candidate will be adept at identifying and assessing operational risks, evaluating control effectiveness, leading risk assessments and change initiatives, and translating complex data and risk information into actionable recommendations that strengthen the business and control environment.

What You Will Do:

Operational Risk Management
  • Partner with Trading, Securities Lending, and Treasury business leaders to identify, assess, and monitor operational risks.
  • Execute and maintain risk management program requirements, including risk assessments/RCSAs, issue management, risk event reviews, and action plan tracking.
  • Conduct process walkthroughs, control assessments, and targeted risk reviews to identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on operational risk events and control failures.
  • Challenge and validate remediation plans to ensure risks are appropriately addressed.
  • Support the development and maintenance of key risk indicators (KRIs).


Change and Project Risk Management
  • Represent Risk Management on Trading, Treasury, and Securities Lending business and technology change initiatives.
  • Provide risk and control guidance throughout project lifecycles, including new products, process enhancements, system implementations, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Assess operational risks associated with proposed changes and ensure appropriate controls are designed and implemented.


Analytical Reporting and Dashboard Development
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommendations for existing and potential trading & banking counterparties.
  • Develop and enhance risk reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and management information packages.
  • Analyze operational risk data, trends, incidents, and key performance indicators to identify emerging issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Automate and continuously improve reporting processes to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
  • Prepare executive-level reports for business leaders, risk committees, and senior management.


Risk Culture and Advisory Support
  • Promote strong risk awareness and accountability across supported business units.
  • Provide risk management guidance, education, and training to business stakeholders.
  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders while maintaining effective independent challenge.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on operational risk matters affecting Trading, Securities Lending, and Treasury activities.


What We Are Looking For:

Required
  • 3+ years of experience in risk management required, ideally within the securities or banking industry.
  • University degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.


Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of CIRO, securities regulations, and Canadian financial industry practices.
  • Knowledge of capital markets products, securities lending, treasury operations, liquidity management, collateral management, and settlement processes.
  • Experience working in a clearing broker, custodian, or wealth management environment, preferably supporting trade desk activities and associated risk controls.
  • Professional designations such as CFA or FRM are considered an asset.
  • Experience with risk reporting tools, dashboards, or data analytics solutions.

• Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: Total annual cash compensation (base salary pus target bonus) ranges from $105,000 to $123,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
