Job Description:Department OverviewCollateral Risk Management sits within Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) which is responsible for the market and credit risk of TD Securities. A global, multi-faceted and cross product team, the primary objective of the Collateral Management department is the mitigation of counterparty credit risk through the active monitoring of clients' derivative and securities financing portfolios. The department manages collateral for the Toronto, New York, London and Singapore regions.
The team has a rare opportunity to support products and businesses ranging from foreign exchange, commodities, credit, equity, interest rates, securities financing, and prime brokerage. The team manages a wide range of complex processes, with members developing skills and competencies around derivative and security products and their respective business areas, legal agreements, technology flows and regulations.
Role DescriptionThe Margin Accounts Group (MAG) Senior Analyst is responsible for the effective mitigation of counterparty credit risk through the management of collateral exposures across OTC derivatives. The role combines daily risk oversight, collateral management expertise, stakeholder engagement, process governance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure risks are appropriately identified, measured, controlled, and escalated.
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert within Collateral Risk Management, providing independent analysis, challenge, and guidance to business partners while maintaining strong relationships with Front Office, Credit Risk, Legal, Treasury, Settlements, Operations, Technology, and external counterparties.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily VM and IM exposures across collateralized portfolios, ensuring counterparty credit risk is effectively mitigated in accordance with CSA terms and internal policies.
- Review and approve collateral calls, margin tickets, valuation statements, and collateral movements within delegated authority limits.
- Investigate and resolve collateral disputes, valuation differences, settlement fails, and reconciliation breaks, escalating material issues promptly.
- Provide independent oversight and reporting on exposures, concentration risks, systemic trends, and emerging issues across assigned portfolios.
- Support risk governance and control programs, including pRCSA, operational risk events, quality assurance, business continuity, regulatory initiatives, and enhancements to risk frameworks and reporting standards.
Stakeholder Management- Serve as a key point of contact for counterparties and internal business partners regarding collateral, disputes, risk exposures, and operational processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Front Office, Credit Risk Management, Legal, Operations, Treasury, Technology, and external clients.
- Provide meaningful risk commentary, recommendations, and insights that support informed decision-making and strengthen risk management effectiveness.
Process Improvement & Innovation- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce operational risk, and enhance controls through automation, process redesign, and technology enhancements.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in strategic projects, regulatory implementations, technology upgrades, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Support infrastructure modernization and process optimization efforts impacting collateral management and counterparty risk functions.
Team Leadership & Development- Provide guidance, mentorship, training, and knowledge transfer to analysts across the team.
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture focused on risk awareness, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor within MAG and the broader Counterparty Risk function.
Required Experience & Qualifications- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Commerce, Risk Management, or a related quantitative discipline.
- CFA, FRM, or equivalent professional designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant capital markets, collateral management, counterparty risk, market risk, treasury, or derivatives operations experience.
- Strong understanding of OTC derivatives, securities financing transactions, collateral agreements (CSA/ISDA), and margining concepts.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with industry-standard collateral management applications; proficiency in risk management tools, coding, and related software is considered an asset.
