Job SummaryJob DescriptionAMF Bakery Systems is seeking a motivated and self-driven Senior Advanced Controls and Robotics Engineer. This hands-on technical leader will architect, program, validate, and commission advanced controls and robotic solutions for high-speed bakery equipment while developing reusable standards that improve engineering efficiency, machine reliability, safe operation, and customer support across AMF's global product portfolio.
Job Duties (include but are not limited to):Controls Engineering: Design PLC, HMI, motion control, safety and network architectures; develop machine software; maintain standards, libraries and documentation; support FAT, SAT and commissioning. Robotics & Vision: Lead FANUC robotics integration, Roboguide development, machine vision applications, line tracking and conveyor tracking solutions; perform simulation and virtual commissioning. Product Development: Develop new machinery concepts, define automation requirements, maintain product line ownership, improve performance, reliability and safety, and evaluate emerging technologies. Project Leadership & Support: Serve as technical lead, mentor engineering personnel, support customer startups, troubleshoot field issues, and collaborate with service, sales, manufacturing and project management teams. Safety & Compliance: Design machinery in accordance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, CE and applicable safety standards and participate in risk assessments.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of industrial automation experience and 10 years of hands-on robotics experience.
- Extensive experience with FANUC Robotics, FANUC Roboguide, vision-guided robotics, line tracking and conveyor tracking.
- Advanced Rockwell Automation experience including Studio 5000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix and FactoryTalk View.
- Strong knowledge of motion control, servo systems, industrial networking and safety systems.
- Proven machine commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC controls.
- Experience with Cognex, Keyence or FANUC iRVision systems.
- Experience with Emulate3D, Visual Components, Process Simulate, Factory I/O or similar emulation and digital twin software.
- Experience in bakery, food processing, packaging or consumer goods automation.
Working Environment- Manufacturing facility environment (approximately 95% indoors / 5% outdoors)
- Heated facility in winter; not air-conditioned in summer
- Occasionally loud environment; hearing protection provided and required where posted
