Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Anticipate and address the informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
  • Guide and direct healthcare personnel, such as Patient Care Technicians, in patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge and proper use of medical equipment and monitors, utilizing safeguards when necessary.
  • Initiate emergency support measures, including CPR, as required.
  • Assist with patient care tasks, such as hygiene and mobility needs.
  • Continuously monitor patients and provide clinical care throughout the shift.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Intensive Care Nurse, you will monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury surgery or life-threatening disease.

 

Every day you will begin each shift by taking report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You will provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line providing wound care ensuring patients  MRI or CT or administering medications.

 

To be successful in this role, you will heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. However your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive putting you on the radar for advancement.

  • Provides effective and comprehensive evidence based nursing care to achieve desired health outcomes.
  • Completes patient assessments competently.
  • Completes an individualized plan of care based on assessment of the patient.
  • Implements interventions based on nursing and medical plans of care.
  • After implementation, reassesses the patient to verify effectiveness of interventions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and adapt to changes in patients' condition.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
  • One (1) year ICU acute care experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - American Heart Association
  • Basic or Advanced Dysrhythmia Certification
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Training (within 90 days from date of hire)
  • LA City Fire Safety Training (within 90 days from date of hire)
