We are seeking an entrepreneurial, forward-thinking Resident District Manager (RDM) to lead the dining program at Point Park University, a dynamic urban university in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh.

We are seeking a visionary leader to build on the strong foundation already in place, bring fresh ideas and innovation to the dining program, strengthen student engagement, and position the campus dining experience for long-term success.
As the senior Compass Group leader on campus, the Resident District Manager will oversee all aspects of dining operations, financial performance, client partnerships, employee engagement, and strategic planning. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of dining at Point Park while working collaboratively with university leadership to deliver an exceptional hospitality experience for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.
The successful candidate will lead a diverse and talented team while driving operational excellence, enhancing the student dining experience, increasing participation, fostering innovation, and strengthening the partnership between Compass Group and Point Park University.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Client Engagement
• Serve as the primary Compass Group representative and strategic partner to Point Park University leadership.
• Develop strong working relationships with university stakeholders, student leaders, faculty, and administration.
• Champion a hospitality-first culture focused on enhancing student engagement and satisfaction.
• Lead strategic initiatives designed to strengthen dining participation, campus engagement, and overall program performance.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and elevate the dining experience through innovation, programming, service improvements, and emerging trends.
• Support long-term planning initiatives that align with the university's vision and future dining objectives.
• Represent Compass Group at key university, community, and alumni events.
Long DescriptionOperational Excellence
• Provide leadership and oversight for all dining venues, retail locations, catering operations, concessions, residential dining, and campus hospitality programs.
• Drive exceptional guest experiences through hospitality, culinary innovation, and service excellence.
• Ensure operational consistency, food quality, safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance across all locations.
• Leverage technology, digital engagement tools, and data-driven decision-making to enhance the guest experience.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability throughout the operation.
• Ensure adherence to Compass Group standards, local health regulations, and university policies.
Growth & Innovation
• Collaborate with culinary, wellness, and marketing teams to introduce new concepts, promotions, and student-centered programming.
• Develop initiatives that increase meal plan engagement, retail participation, and overall customer satisfaction.
• Partner with campus stakeholders to understand student preferences and evolving dining expectations.
• Support client retention efforts and future business development opportunities through operational excellence and innovation.
• Champion sustainability, wellness, and community engagement initiatives that align with Point Park University's mission and values.
Financial Leadership
• Maintain full accountability for the account's financial performance.
• Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial improvement strategies.
• Monitor key performance indicators including revenue growth, labor management, food cost, purchasing controls, and profitability.
• Analyze operating trends and implement action plans to improve financial performance.
• Ensure accuracy and accountability in all budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
Team Development
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing leaders and frontline associates.
• Build a culture focused on employee engagement, inclusion, accountability, and professional growth.
• Conduct performance reviews, talent assessments, and succession planning activities.
• Mentor emerging leaders and establish a strong leadership pipeline across the operation.
• Foster an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
