Description
The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of radiopharmaceutical sciences, with an emphasis on radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and/or targeted radionuclide therapy. Candidates should have experience in the development and evaluation of diagnostic or therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, including relevant chemical, biological, or translational approaches. Preferred qualifications include postdoctoral or other relevant research experience, typically 0-3 years, in radiopharmaceutical sciences, radiochemistry, molecular imaging, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of research productivity through peer-reviewed publications and potential to develop an independent, externally funded research program. Experience with radiopharmaceutical development, preclinical imaging, targeted alpha or beta therapies, or translational research is desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing an innovative research program focused on the discovery, development, and translation of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and therapy. Areas of particular interest include radiometal chemistry, radiolabeling methodologies, targeted radionuclide therapy, and the development of novel radiopharmaceutical agents for cancer and other diseases. Research activities may include radiopharmaceutical design and synthesis, preclinical imaging and therapy studies, pharmacokinetic and biodistribution evaluations, dosimetry, and translational studies supporting clinical development.
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue extramural research funding, contribute to scholarly publications, and establish collaborative research relationships across radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, chemistry, engineering, and other biomedical disciplines. The candidate will also participate in the academic mission of the Department through mentorship, graduate and postgraduate training, and relevant professional service.
The position offers the opportunity to develop an independent research program within a multidisciplinary environment with established capabilities in radiochemistry, molecular imaging, and translational radiopharmaceutical development, including targeted radionuclide therapy.
