Overview

Your role at Bio-Rad is a key technical contributor to the expansion and support of Bio-Rad’s quality control product lines.  As an R&D Staff Scientist, you will drive, develop, and support the development of innovative quality control products by partnering with other Scientists, and serve as mentor to Research Associates in completing your daily activities.  You will also partner with Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, among others, to deliver QC products in a timely manner to market, to empower our customers in providing quality healthcare outcomes to a world of individuals.

 

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

 

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Ensure the integrity of cutting-edge in vitro diagnostics QC products by designing effective experiments, championing design verification and validation plans, reviewing design input requirements, and ensuring development design control goals are met, completed, and within budget.
  • Influence critical design decisions with design verification data that clearly communicate data, observations, and results.
  • Facilitate scientific advancement with failure analysis efforts (basic experiment planning, execution, documentation, and reporting) and by coordinating the development of test tools to simulate errors and faults and acquire objective outputs.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and project management in a timely manner.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 to 10 years of industry experience designing, executing, and launching clinical diagnostic products, a PhD in an associated field a plus.
  • Strong product development track record within general clinical chemistry, molecular, hematology, or other similar product formulations.
  • An aptitude for writing clear research study protocols, reports, and SOPs with strong presentation skills to senior management, review boards, and peers.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills with a growth mindset and eagerness to problem-solve in a dynamic product development environment.
  • Possess solid experience in Design of Experiments, advanced statistical methods, Lean Practices, and structured problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of national and international quality system requirements especially for design control.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience a plus.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $137,600 - $189,200 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is also eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
