Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in tooling and industrial equipment procurement and installation. This role will lead end-to-end project execution for new equipment installations, upgrades, and tooling projects. The position will support an increased project load and focus on bringing a product in-house, requiring a team-oriented approach with strong delegation, communication, and project leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for tooling and equipment projects.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, and suppliers.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with internal purchasing buyers for pricing alignment with typically pre-selected vendors.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of industrial equipment and tooling.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards during installation.
• Validate equipment performance and complete handoff to maintenance, quality, and other departments.
• Track project costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
• Prepare regular status reports for stakeholders and management.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of project management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Mechanical or general engineering background.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and an agile mindset.
• Proficiency in project management tools, with MS Project preferred for larger projects and Excel for smaller projects.
• Sufficient technical understanding to communicate effectively with workers and understand tool intricacies.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with tooling and equipment installation.
• Experience with 3-D printing, such as Selective Laser Sintering (SLS).
• Experience working with vendors.
