The Project Engineer - Construction & Renovation will lead and support capital projects across manufacturing and facility environments, with a strong emphasis on mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and multi-trade construction execution. This role is responsible for managing projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
As a key liaison between Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME), plant operations, construction partners, and cross-functional teams, the Project Engineer will drive project execution excellence while ensuring integration with manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational readiness.

How You'll Create PossibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead execution of capital construction and renovation projects including facility upgrades, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements.
- Manage full project lifecycle including scope development, design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handoff to operations.
- Coordinate specification development, supplier selection, technical reviews, and qualification of construction systems and equipment.
- Ensure integration of construction projects with manufacturing processes, including material flow, workstation design, and value stream alignment.
- Partner with Design-Build firms, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical compliance and constructability.
- Support development of project budgets, capital plans, and cost tracking throughout execution.
- Drive make vs. buy decisions where applicable for construction components and systems.
Standards and Compliance- Ensure all projects comply with OSHA, NEC, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Partner with EHS to implement safe work practices, including permitting (Hot Work, Safe Work Plans) and on-site safety controls.
- Promote safe design and implementation of equipment, tooling, and facility systems with operator safety as a priority.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, construction codes, and internal engineering specifications.
Project Execution & Construction Management- Lead field execution activities including subcontractor coordination, material procurement, and on-site construction management.
- Conduct daily site coordination, safety meetings, and progress reviews to ensure schedule adherence.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contractor performance.
- Monitor and control project metrics including cost variance, schedule variance, and earned value performance.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate critical issues impacting budget or timeline.
- Oversee commissioning, punch list completion, and final project closeout documentation.
Cross-functional Work and Leadership- Act as liaison between AME, operations, sourcing, DT/IT, and construction teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Collaborate with Lean and operations teams to align projects with value stream and continuous improvement goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to leadership and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to development of standard work and best practices.
What You'll Bring to Our TeamQualifications / Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in construction project management, manufacturing engineering, or capital project execution.
- Experience managing multi-trade construction or MEP projects in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience with capital equipment or construction project lifecycle including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and construction disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and deliver projects successfully.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing or industrial facility construction.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with project management and construction tools (MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
Working Conditions- Work is performed in both office and active construction/manufacturing environments.
- Requires frequent on-site presence, including walking construction sites and manufacturing floors.
- Use of appropriate PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, and protective footwear is required.
- Travel may be required depending on project location and scope.
