Full Job Description
Could you be the full-time onsite Project Contract Manager in St. Bruno, QC, CA, we're looking for? The Project Contract Manager (PrCM) is a key member of the Project Core Team, working in close collaboration with the Project Manager and wider project team. The PrCM is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and following up on contract management activities throughout the project lifecycle. The PrCM contributes to the development and implementation of proactive contract and claims strategies that align with Alstom's business objectives, including extensions of time (EoTs), variation orders, and contract amendments. The PrCM ensures proper record-keeping and the preparation of robust claim files. They serve as an expert safeguarding Alstom's interests and recovery of claimed amounts. The position is based in Alstom's Saint-Bruno offices. Key Accountabilities Drive Contract Management activities, ensuring compliance and conformance by Alstom and the project team. Apply proactive Contract Management practices. Ensure application of the CCIM (Contracts, Claims and Insurance Management Manual) and Alstom governance, raising alerts when non-conformities are identified. Collaborate with the Project Core Team to prepare and contribute to the Contract/Claims Management Strategy Plan, including deployment of appropriate tools and best practices. Organize and lead Contract Management Initiatives with the Project Core Team. Analyze the contract to develop and maintain the Contract/Claim Management Strategy Plan, reviewing it with the project team quarterly. Contribute to the Project Monthly Report. Monitor project progress toward contractual obligations and milestones. Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices to customers and partners. Develop and monitor claims strategies in line with contractual terms and business goals. Identify, validate, and assess risks and opportunities. Establish, implement, and maintain commercial/claims procedures related to correspondence, notifications, insurance, delays, variations, and claim documentation. Oversee preparation and administration of claims, ensuring reliable filing and easy access to correspondence and records. Manage and analyze incoming and outgoing correspondence with customers and partners. Contribute to Return of Experience (REX) documentation. Monitor and maintain the project's insurance policy in collaboration with the Regional Insurance Manager, informing them of any project changes affecting coverage. Develop project-specific processes and working methods for contract/claim management. Develop a pragmatic commercial claims strategy based on thorough contract analysis to protect and defend Alstom's interests. Provide reliable contractual and claims analysis upon management request. Monitor, record, and notify customer/partner claims and counterclaims; prepare all supporting documentation for negotiations. Monitor customer/partner requests for variations, change orders, and extensions of time; drive them to closure, update registers (VO/VR/Delays), prepare commercial offers, and issue related contractual correspondence for approval. Performance Measurements Achievement of claim recovery targets. Establishment and implementation of best practices in contract/claims management. Achievement of Contract Management KPI objectives. Demonstrated visible results in Contract Management. Contribution to continuous improvement and added value for projects. Competencies & Skills Experience with claims activities on large projects, preferably in the rail or infrastructure sectors; proven ability to build and defend significant claims. Ability to understand, interpret, and enforce contract terms and conditions, including planning and technical specifications. Strong written communication skills for reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customer or internal groups. Ability to understand project financials and the impact of contract/claim management on profitability. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex, variable situations. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions. Ability to anticipate and manage conflicting priorities. Proficiency with Contract Management systems, Project Management software, spreadsheets (Excel), and Microsoft Office. Ability to work proactively and be operationally effective and accountable. Strong teamwork skills and ability to work transversally and collaboratively. Knowledge of operational and support functions involved in claims. Proven experience in complex projects. Familiarity with Alstom products (an asset). Knowledge of international markets. Between 5-10 years of experience in Contract/Claim Management (mandatory) Knowledge of a language other than French is an asset when dealing with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues and customers.
