This position supports the IRMPO as a planning authority and expert advisor for formalizing and maturing the Department Research Security Program in compliance with National Security Presidential Memorandum-33 (NSPM-33, United States Government-Supported Research and Development National Security Policy), the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act, and other research security policies, regulations, and statutes.
BackgroundThe Insider Risk Management Program Office (IRMPO), a component of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Security, Insider Risk and Continuity (OSIRC) serves to mitigate the risk to personnel, facilities, property, information, and assets through increased initiatives in various security fields via issuance of U.S. Department of Commerce-wide security policies and the application of a multi-disciplined security programs extending from the Headquarters to the operating units. IRMPO plans and implements policies by developing procedures and delivering a wide range of services for the Office of the Secretary and other nationwide Departmental bureaus.
ResponsibilitiesAlthough other general duties within the scope of the position may be assigned, primary responsibilities include:
Approximately eight years of relevant professional experience, including approximately four years of Research Security experience.
Security Clearance: Top Secret (TS) security clearance with SCI crossover eligibility (not simply SCI eligible). This requires an in-scope background investigation and either currently SCI-indoc’d or read out of SCI within the past 23 months.
EducationBachelor of Science (BS) degree required. Candidates with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree may qualify with four additional years of relevant professional experience, for a total of at least 12 years of relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Location and Work HoursFull-time on-site at U.S. Department of Commerce Headquarters, 1401 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC.
The Contracting Officer’s Representative, under limited circumstances (e.g., COVID/Hazardous Weather Days/Public Transportation Issues), may approve situational telework.
This position requires occasional travel to the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center in Mount Weather, Virginia, including the ability to report to the facility on short notice when operational needs require. Employees are responsible for reliable transportation to and from the facility, as transportation is not provided by AES, and must be able to meet all applicable requirements for access to the facility and its grounds.
CompensationSalary Range: $132,870 6 $176,000annually
Compensation will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, and overall fit for the position.
