Full Job Description
Principal TPM, Agentic WorkSpaces (AAWS)
As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.
AWS Applied AI Solutions (AAIS) is where science meets customer obsession at scale. We build the intelligent systems that power AWS services used by millions, combining research in machine learning, agentic AI, and applied science with the operational rigor required to deliver enterprise grade experiences. Within AAIS, Amazon WorkSpaces is our cloud based virtual desktop service that delivers secure, managed computing to over one million daily users across the globe, enabling organizations to provision, manage, and scale desktops with the reliability and performance their workforce depends on.
We are now at an inflection point. We are transforming traditional virtual desktops into Agentic WorkSpaces, a new category of intelligent, persona driven workspace experiences where AI agents operate continuously alongside humans, orchestrating across foundation models, maintaining enterprise governance, and unlocking productivity at scale. This transformation spans multiple strategic pillars, from next generation architecture modernization to AI powered capacity intelligence to entirely new product constructs, all converging toward a single mission: making WorkSpaces the definitive venue for human AI teamwork in the enterprise.
We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to own the lifecycle of the most complex, cross organizational programs driving this transformation. You will manage multiple concurrent workstreams spanning capacity intelligence, architecture modernization, agentic AI integration, persona driven workspace experiences, and new product incubation, stitching together a coherent narrative for executive leadership while proactively identifying and mitigating risk across every dimension.
This is not a role for someone who waits for problems to surface. You will operate at the intersection of deep technical understanding, methodical program execution, and executive influence, driving clarity where ambiguity exists, building mechanisms that scale cross functionally, and establishing trust with VPs and SVPs across AWS and AAIS leadership.
Key job responsibilities
Multi Workstream Program Ownership
Own end to end delivery of significantly complex, cross functional technical initiatives spanning multiple organizations across science, engineering, product, business, and data engineering. Drive simultaneous workstreams, including agentic AI integration, workspace persona experiences, architecture modernization, capacity forecasting and optimization, and new product incubation, with clear dependencies, milestones, and accountability. Stitch together disparate workstream narratives into a unified, coherent story for leadership reviews, QBRs, and S Team updates.
Proactive Risk Identification and Mitigation
Develop mechanisms to surface risk early: capacity gaps, service dependencies, migration blockers, science to production handoff delays, and timeline slips before they escalate. Own escalation paths and drive resolution at the right level. You are escalated to, not escalating up. Build data driven risk models that quantify trade offs between investment timing, technical debt, and customer experience, informing executive decision making with precision rather than intuition.
Technical Depth and Influence
Understand system architectures deeply enough to challenge engineering teams, spot risks in technical proposals, and drive simplification across a portfolio that spans ML inference pipelines, agent orchestration frameworks, desktop streaming protocols, and distributed infrastructure. Evaluate capacity plans, scaling signals, and architecture trade offs with confidence. Influence design decisions across service teams to unblock innovation, accelerate delivery, and ensure that science driven capabilities translate into production impact.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
