Precise Positioning Service Equipment Certification Subject Matter Expert
The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact in GPS User equipment? You understand your customer's environment and how to develop the right systems for their mission. Your ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications makes you an integral part of delivering a customer focused engineering solution.

This position supports the Government Client in executing an assurance and authorization framework modeled after the FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) process. As a technical certification specialist, you will help evaluate, oversee, and advance Program activities for GPS Precise Positioning Service (PPS) User Equipment. This role involves direct engagement with government, industry, and applicant organizations to ensure equipment meets applicable performance, assurance, and compliance requirements.

You Have:
  • Experience performing certification authority activities in accordance with the military standard order (MSO) program
  • Experience with conducting software reviews per Radio Technical Commission (RTCA) for Aeronautics DO-178 and DO-254
  • Experience evaluating Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) development processes and compliance artifacts
  • Knowledge of Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization processes and FAA regulatory guidance
  • Knowledge of GPS PPS User Equipment and application of RTCA DO-229 MOPS for equipment certification
  • Ability to interpret FAA regulations, policy materials, and advisory circulars
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish collaborative relationships with government clients and contractor teammates
  • Ability to identify emerging certification risks and potential impacts, clearly communicate relevant certification information to the team, and analyze issues to develop effective, appropriate solutions
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science


Nice If You Have:
  • 1+ years of experience with development or evaluating aviation software
  • 1+ years of experience performing certification authority activities in accordance with MSO-C145b and RTCA DO-229 requirements
  • Experience with reviewing and approving MSO functional data per MSO-C145b, DO-229
  • Experience reviewing certification plans and change impact analyses
  • Ability to develop formal certification documentation, including issue papers and MSOA letters
  • Ability to contribute to drafting and refining MSO standards and associated guidance per MSO-C145
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills that support collaboration across government and industry stakeholders
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
