Nurse Manager – Children and Adolescents

Baystate Health is seeking a Nurse Manager to join our Children and Adolescent Unit at Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. As the only accredited full-service children’s hospital in western Massachusetts, Baystate Children’s Hospital provides primary and advanced care to babies, children, and adolescents. Our unit cares for patients from birth through age 21, providing compassionate, family-centered care in a supportive environment. Our multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, child life specialists, and other specialists works together to meet each child’s developmental, physical, and emotional needs.

The Nurse Manager role offers the opportunity to shape nursing practice, support team growth, and advance exceptional, developmentally appropriate care for children and adolescents across western Massachusetts, while collaborating with a specialized team.

The Nurse Manager Will:
  • Develop and maintainstaffing plans, schedules, and assignmentsto meet patient care needs and operational demands.
  • Conductstaff performance management, including coaching, feedback, competency validation, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Managedepartmental budgets, supplies, equipment, and other resourcesto support efficient operations.
  • Establish and monitordepartment goals, workflows, and performance metrics, addressing barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinateorientation, onboarding, education, and ongoing competency developmentfor team members.
  • Partner with Human Resources, nursing leadership, medical staff, and other departments toresolve operational and employee-related issues.
  • Leadprocess improvement and change initiatives, ensuring effective implementation and sustained results.
  • Respond topatient, family, and staff concerns, promoting timely resolution and service recovery when needed.

Required Skills
  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
