About the Role:

This role reports to the Principal Program Manager, Compounding Lab Equipment & Reliability Maintenance. The Compounding Ops Manager provides high level support to the Operations Engineering & Maintenance Department by applying predictive and preventive maintenance procedures for all Lab equipment in Pharmacy. This position analyzes, troubleshoots, and communicates maintenance problems/concerns in the following areas: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, and HVAC relating to the equipment in the labs. The Compounding Facilities Ops Manager works with general supervision and will interact with a supervisor several times per week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Many non-routine activities will require a supervisor's advance approval.

You Will:
  • Lead a Group of Compounding Facility Technicians/Managers, in a multi shift operation.:
  • Provide predictive/preventive maintenance on all Lab Equipment-Tablet presses, Blenders, Mills, Hoods, Tablet coaters, Air compressors, electrical controls, etc.
  • Document maintenance technical and other data on predictive/preventive maintenance charts, as required.
  • Conduct repair/troubleshoot duties throughout the pharmacy as required.
  • Diagnose and repair all equipment in the labs, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compressors and HVAC repairs.
  • Identify facilities issues and develop an ongoing strategy to chart trends and take appropriate remedial action from a predictive maintenance approach.
  • Communicate to management all issues that could result in safety risks or those that might cause loss to Hims or its associates.
  • Work as directed in all areas of the Pharmacy to maintain safety and health standards for the facility.
  • Perform calibration and testing procedures on equipment to ensure accurate operation and compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct regular checks and measurements to verify equipment performance, including temperature, pressure, speed, and other relevant parameters.
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all equipment meets regulatory and quality standards and take corrective actions to address any non-compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and regulatory affairs teams to implement and maintain proper documentation, including equipment logs, maintenance records, and validation reports.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, emergencies, and production interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with production personnel to coordinate repairs and minimize disruptions to the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings related to equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to implement improvement projects and contribute to the continuous improvement culture within the organization.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to pharmaceutical equipment maintenance.
  • Make sure all assets, parts and work orders are updated & tracked in CMMS for the lab equipment.


You Have:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, either in conjunction with his or her regular responsibilities or those assigned in other areas as directed.
  • Use of business computer systems and applications-specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project Management
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with machinery without supervision or direction.
  • Ability to document predictive/preventive maintenance charts, technical data and other data; interpret data and provide relevant input for process improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English (Bilingual in Spanish preferred)
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach overhead with arms and hands and climb ladders; must be able to climb stairs up to three flights and not be afraid of heights utilizing scissor or bucket lifts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization.
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to all Hims Inc. policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those related to attendance and scheduling requirements, honesty and integrity, confidentiality, safety, and conflicts of interest.
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, or experience in a similar regulated industry (eg: FDA, FAA), in maintenance or engineering
  • Demonstrated high level ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and operate advance technical equipment in a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and motivate in a highly technical and fast paced environment
  • 3+ years of formal leadership experience with direct reports, both hourly and salaried
  • Have knowledge of and experience with PLC systems
  • Have knowledge of and experience with CMMS systems
  • Ability to present problems and solutions in a formal setting to mid/high level management
  • Ability to delegate complex tasks and follow up on completion
  • Experience working with multiple facilities and other facility managers to implement systems and solutions to network level problems
  • Ability to assess talent and both the salaried and hourly level to provide performance management and reward based on accomplishments and ability
  • Ability to evaluate personnel needs and adapt existing resources by structure and shift to enhance the business and support operations
  • Ability, business acumen, emotional intelligence, and willingness to objectively assess issues (both operations and personnel) and provide solutions
  • Willingness to be available 24/7 for emergency situations
  • Have formal training or certification through an accredited institution in at least one of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, PLC system or HVAC trades

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, API manufacturing facility, or pharmacy with the lab equipment referenced above.
  • 10+ years of electrical knowledge and electronic principles
  • Advanced degree/training in engineering, maintenance, or other related field
  • Advanced formal training in lean or six sigma
