The position at a glanceThe RISK Independent Review & Control unit supports the BNP Paribas mission by providing a vital second line of defense for model risk management. This role serves to oversee the use of various model types to ensure institutional stability and regulatory alignment. The primary objective is to perform independent effective challenges of modelling choices in accordance with internal policies and global standards.
In detail- Conduct independent quantitative reviews of models using internal standards and regulatory guidance to ensure compliance.
- Leverage existing expertise to perform validation of Compliance models to mitigate operational risk.
- Challenge conceptual soundness and model output reasonableness to ensure models remain fit-for-use.
- Collaborate with validation managers to develop appropriate validation plans that provide effective challenge commensurate with model risk levels.
- Support various stakeholders and vendors within the Compliance stream to help the Group meet all model validation requirements.
- Prepare and present clear written reports to senior management to communicate risk assessments and concerns effectively.
- Manage multiple undertaking simultaneously by balancing competing priorities to achieve objectives within established time constraints.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed- Master or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience validating or developing models related to BSA/AML, Fraud, OFAC, and financial crime models.
- The knowledge of English is required.*
- Reasoned statistical knowledge of AI/ML techniques, predictive modeling, and probability when evaluating model performance.
- Dependable management of multiple tasks with different levels of granularity to meet deadlines and priorities.
- Programming proficiency in Python or R to execute mathematical and statistical analyses.
- Responsible production of high-quality technical documentation to support validation findings.
- Collaborative communication and synthesis skills when presenting complex information to stakeholders.
- Committed approach to continuous learning to stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements and standards.
