Director of Engineering
Supervisory Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY
As SkoFlo's Manufacturing Engineer, you will own how our products get made. You will develop the rigorous processes, inspection methods, and supplier capabilities that determine how precision components are produced, inspected, and tested to some of the most demanding standards in the energy industry - and make every part better, faster, and more consistent. This role is newly defined, which means you will put your stamp on it and shape the future of how SkoFlo builds.
WHAT SKOFLO WILL DO FOR YOU
- Give you the authority to decide how our products are made, and the backing to make it stick. Build the manufacturing engineering function your way: your processes, your standards, your improvements.
- Put you at the center of everything: design, the shop floor, outside suppliers, quality, and test
- Let you see the impact of your work right away in cost, cycle time, first-pass yield, and on-time delivery
- Deepen your expertise in machining exotic alloys, precision welding, and NDE - skills few engineers get the chance to build
- Provide hands-on exposure to processes like electron beam welding, specialty coatings, and high-pressure testing
- Back your growth with employer-paid tuition and support for job-related certifications and training
WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR THIS ON-SITE POSITION
- Assess manufacturability of new and existing designs, and select the machining, welding, and finishing processes that build them best
- Support first NPD builds and own the transition of new designs into production
- Design production tooling and high-level fixtures
- Drive part cost down through process selection, vendor sourcing, and design feedback
- Own methods of manufacture (MOMs) and process definitions, and partner with the CAD Drafter to turn them into work and build instructions the shop can follow
- Develop inspection methods with Quality, and review welding and NDE requirements to ensure compliance with customer and industry specifications
- Initiate ECNs that improve how our products are made
- Lead NCR investigations on production issues and implement corrective action that prevents recurrence
- Be the go-to resource for the shop floor and outside machine shops on drawing clarification, quotes, and process improvements
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST YEAR
- Every critical part has a qualified second source, so no single supplier can stop our shop
- Repeat NCRs have dropped significantly, because the problems you fixed stayed fixed
- MOMs for our core product lines are current, clear, and followed, and the shop builds from them because they work
- Our standard products are built more efficiently, and you have the numbers to prove it
- Design engineering and the shop see you as the bridge between them: the person who turns a good design into a great product
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- A hands-on problem solver who is at home on the shop floor and takes pride in making every process better than you found it
- The credibility to change how experienced machinists work, and the respect to listen first
- A curious mind and a desire to learn
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering with 3+ years of experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience with exotic alloys such as super duplex, Inconel, or 17-4 PH is a plus
- Experience developing and qualifying suppliers and estimating part cost
- Experience with welding processes, NDE, and inspection methods, preferably in an ISO 9001 facility
- A track record of Lean / continuous improvement results you can point to
- Proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor or SolidWorks and ERP systems, with strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Clear communication and a willingness to travel to suppliers, domestically and internationally, as needed
Base Compensation Range: $105,000 - $140,000 DOE. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. We also provide comprehensive benefits to support employees and their families, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off (PTO), and paid holidays.
