Managing Director - Texas
Overview:
VIOTAS is seeking a Managing Director to lead its Texas business. This is a senior leadership appointment at a fast-scaling, technology-driven energy company, and an opportunity to lead an established and growing operation in one of the world's most dynamic electricity markets.
VIOTAS operates at the leading edge of the demand response industry, enabling large commercial, industrial, and data centre customers to participate actively in the ERCOT market - generating revenue for those customers while supporting grid reliability and the integration of renewable energy. The Texas business is built on proprietary technology, deep international market expertise, and a growing local team, supported by specialist functions from the global organisation.
A particular area of opportunity is the large and fast-growing data centre sector. VIOTAS brings market-leading power quality intelligence, fault ride-through, and grid-compliance capability that help large energy users and data centres meet ERCOT's technical and operational requirements - supporting faster interconnection and compliant operation as the Texas grid framework evolves. Building VIOTAS's position in this segment is a significant part of the opportunity for the incoming Managing Director.
The Role
- Lead the Texas business end to end - owning the market P&L and accountable for revenue, growth, and the overall performance of the operation.
- Drive commercial growth, acquiring and retaining large energy customers and securing strategic partnerships across the Texas market.
- Lead the operational performance of the Texas business, ensuring VIOTAS's technology and services are deployed and delivered to the highest standards of reliability and compliance.
- Hold a deep, current understanding of the ERCOT market - nodal dynamics, ancillary services, interconnection, and the regulatory and policy trajectory - and position the business to capture the value that market creates.
- Represent VIOTAS at the senior level with ERCOT, the PUCT, utilities, policymakers, customers, and industry bodies, and build the company's profile and influence in the Texas energy market.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing local team, and set a results-driven, customer-focused culture.
- Provide regular operational, commercial and financial reporting to the VIOTAS Board and Senior Leadership Team.
- Ensure the Texas business operates in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the global leadership team to align market strategy, product development priorities and organisational goals.
What We're Looking For
- A proven senior leader with a track record of running a business or a substantial market operation, with full accountability for commercial and operational performance.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience owning a P&L and delivering against revenue and growth targets.
- Deep knowledge of the ERCOT market - market rules, demand response and ancillary service mechanisms, and grid services - with the intellectual appetite to hold that knowledge as a continuous working discipline, not a static credential.
- An established network across the Texas energy sector - ERCOT, the PUCT, utilities, and large energy users - or a clear and credible pathway to building one quickly.
- The ability to translate market and regulatory direction into commercial and operational positioning, and to set the strategy that follows from it.
- Genuine leadership ability - building and developing a team, and delivering through others rather than through personal effort alone.
- Excellent communication and representation skills, with the credibility to speak for VIOTAS to customers, regulators, and the wider market.
- An entrepreneurial, ownership mindset, comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-growing international business.
- Awareness of the power reliability, resilience, and grid-compliance challenges facing large energy users and data centres in the ERCOT market is an advantage.
